For people wondering, yes there's a test for both LIDAR and RADAR courses. Then 16 hours of additional practical training before you're certified by the state to issue citations using those devices. Those wanting help with what to study, here's some additional notes I forgot to add to the video: +LIDAR signal travels infinitely until reflected, refracted, or absorbed. +Formula to calculate speed: Speed= Distance/ Time (S=d/t) +What spectrum does the lidar fall under: infared electromagnetic +LIDAR uses a HIGHER frequency than RADAR. +The optical resonator uses what two materials: arsenide and gallium +What effect does the cosine effect have: Shows a target speed slower than absolute speed +What is the frequency of of K-Band RADAR?: 24.15 ghz +What is frequency of Ka-band RADAR?: 33.6-36 GHZ +How is target speed computed for moving radar?: Closing speed-patrol speed=target speed (CS-PS=TS) +Relative Motion: If the object receiving the energy stands still and the transmission source moves. If the transmission source stands still and the object receiving the energy moves. Or, if both the transmission source and the object receiving the energy move, as long as they do so at different speeds or in different directions (so that the distance between them changes) +Scanning Effect: A hand-held RADAR antenna that is swung swiftly or "scanned" past a stationary object is alleged to produce a speed measurement. +Panning Effect: If the antenna is pointed at its own counting unit, a speed reading may appear on the display because of electronic feedback between the two components. +Batching Effect: The batching effect may occur if the patrol car is rapidly changing its speed while the RADAR speed measurements are being made. Some RADAR counting units may not be able to keep up with drastic changes in speed.
