I use a a 5 gallon Fuel Can made by VP Racing Fuel & it is legal in all 50 states & has a long flexible hose & has a vent hole so the fuel will flow without chugging & so you don't end up spilling your fuel all over. Best $20.00 I ever spent 15 years ago & its still as good as the day I bought it. They are very popular in offroad racing & are easy to find online but are about $30.00 these days.

By law, the new containers are designed NOT to pour fossil fuels, since they cause global warming. So, next time, just pretend to pour it in your tank, and then pretend to drive your vehicle after doing so. If you really need the vehicle for a medical emergency, say, for example you've drilled a hole in your knee, just pretend that you are not in severe pain, and that blood is not squirting from an artery. You'll save a couple of bucks on energy, and its good for the environment.

We have spilled more gas at our home with the new spouts than we ever did with the old ones. I was going to look for some old cans at yard sales, but I think I'll get a few of those spout kits and change out the worthless new style spouts! Thanks for the video!

I threw away my messed up spout. It came with a cap and a screw-on top to secure the cap so no fumes escape. When I need to pour gas I remove both of them and use a funnel to pour gas into my mower.

NOW total up all the money you spent on a cheap plastic can PLUS a proper nozzle to make it work the way they are supposes to. That is crazy to invest that much in a gas can! I just took the nozzle from those new POS cans and busted the lock out since it would not work anyways removed the cheap spring then used a big drill bid and hogged out all the BS in the nozzle to make it into a normal nozzle! if you dont pour your gas super fast while using it and let some room for air to get in it will self ventilate! I dont understand why they had to mess up a good design after all the years they been used. ANYTHING TO CHARGE YOU MORE MONEY! It is not about safety at all. If you watch how you are transporting your cans there should be no issue with spilling! It in nuts what it cost to buy a fuel can these days! I still have a few of the vintage metal 1 gallon cans 2 are BRAND NEW I also have a 3 gallon metal red one from the late 80' early 90's that has John deere on it with a rubber yellow spout.

New fuel containers are non-vented due to ethanol content in gasoline. Gas with ethanol will attract and absorb water vapor. Ventilated containers expand and contract with temperature variations, which pumps ambient air through container, resulting in increased water in fuel. After 15-20% saturation, water will unbind from ethanol and settle in bottom. Fuel deterioration quickly occurs. Fouling and corrosion of fuel system will be end result. Not good. And yeah, new cans and spouts suck. By designing spouts to be idiot-proof, they are almost non-functional in real world. That spring loaded nozzle pukes gas all over my equipment when tank is filled. Fire hazard, hazmat-worthy mess, esp with 2-stroke mix with added stabilizer. Solution: Make Non-ethanol fuel available for equipment, vented tank & regular spout that worked great for about 100 years. Thanks Big-Brother, for over-regulation, design by educated idiot committee, and forced adding of ethanol (farce) to all pump gasoline. And yes, I know that's a yellow diesel, not gasoline can.

Oh... My... Gosh!... finally a channel that understands! YES! I HATE! and I mean I HATE this fuel can design! I have no good things to say or wish for the designer or company that put this krap on the market. You can't go to any local market and find another options. I can't help but to think this is deliberate. What are the global corporate, elitist a--holes trying to push us into to doing! I know this sounds like conspiracy theory garbage but go and try to find a decent fuel can! Hang on to your old ones as long as you can! no pun intended!

In a pouring rain I was trying to pour gas into my car with one of those safety spouts. I couldn't start the car afterward. What happened was all the gas missed the tank and was just running down the side of the car, but the rain was so heavy I couldn't tell gas from water. Morale: safety spouts just mean you're pouring all the gas on the ground. Not buying another gas can with one of those.
