Doing It big at the 2015 Autism Awareness Walk At Pizzo Elementary. We donated 200 bottles of water & over 200 bags of chips for this event. We had a blast playing different games with all the kids. Our goal is to help support education; and all of your donations will give some children a better opportunity at learning and provide the necessary tools needed to help them stay focused. J-Me Bloom accomplished something big today, got crowned a nopi nationals champion!!! Hard work paid off big, conquered the nopi car shows series, wanna send a big thanks to everyone back home that helped us get there.... big shout out to Billy Kidd and the toc family, gianna wheels, and croftgate... hollaaaaa

 

It was a while ago, (1959) but still deserves mention.

Thanks to Graham Whitehead at the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans.
To salvage Aston Martin's hopes of a championship, Graham Whitehead withdrew his entry from the race in order to allow Aston Martin to use his pits stall and finish the race. Able to continue, Stirling Moss, Carroll Shelby and Jack Fairman in DBR1/2 were able to secure victory and the championship over Ferrari, the only World Championship won by Aston Martin.

Returning again for 1959, Aston Martin had completed two more chassis, DBR1/4 and DBR1/5. The first car was actually a conversion from a DBR3, while DBR1/5 was a spare chassis sold to privateer Graham Whitehead, the only car to do so. With four chassis, Aston Martin would again concentrate on the World Sportscar Championship. The season started slowly, with a sole DBR1 failing to finish at the 12 Hours of Sebring, then followed by the team not appearing at the Targa Florio. Luck returned again for Aston Martin, as the sole factory entry again won the 1000km Nürburgring, with Stirling Moss and Jack Fairman driving. However, Aston Martin's success would continue with what is considered their finest motorsports triumph. DBR1/2, driven by Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori, took victory at the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans. DBR1/4, driven by Maurice Trintignant and Paul Frére, managed second. The next closest competitor was a distant 25 laps behind the duo.
With the constructors championship now closely contested by Ferrari and Aston Martin, the team appeared at the final round at Goodwood. Aston Martin entered three DBR1s, as well as privateer Graham Whitehead's DBR1/5. During the race, DBR1/3 caught fire in the pits, destroying the car and leaving Aston Martin without room to refuel their other cars.

Congratulations to Bobby Kennedy and the Daytona 1/Bemco Racing team for their runner up finish in GT2 at the Runoffs. A great result in the first race back since the devastating fire earlier this year that necessitated in a complete rebuild of the Mustang. Thanks to the generosity of the Trans Am family and the SE division racing family the car was rebuilt better than ever. Now on to the Trans Am Finale at Daytona with the goal of bettering last years second place finish.

 

Thanks to Leo Dougherty and the Fountainview Estates car show this past Saturday...
Another successful car show and fund raiser (Fountainview Estates 2nd annual car show) for our local Fisher House at the James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa, FL. We set a goal of $1,000. I think we raised $627 last year. We didn’t quite reach the $1,000 mark this year but we did raise $888. Thanks to the following people: Paul Figoni for making the show happen this year and last year, his assistant Jerry, community manager Steve Foligno and his Cal-Am Properties staff, the band Arlington Road, the residents of Fountainview Estates, and most of all to all the owners who brought their beautiful cars to the show. We were pleased last year to have 41 cars. This year there were 56 cars. Special thanks also goes out to our Fountainview neighborhood watch for directing traffic and making the journey in smooth for the show cars.

Every dollar that was raised will be directed to our local Fisher House in Tampa. Paul Figoni asked that those of us who served in the military come forward for recognition by the crowd. It’s always an honor to be recognized and this one was special because we were all there to help our local Fisher House continue to provide free room and board to families of those active duty military and veterans who are undergoing long term in-patient treatment for serious injuries. The VA hospital in Tampa is a nationally known poly-trauma center so patients from around the country suffering from trauma may very well be treated here.



PS, a donor added $120 and we DID reach the $1,000 mark!

 

Hats off to Road Queen, Linda Dalton, and everyone who helped her put together the Womens Weekend Bash in Homosassa Florida. It was incredible meeting women riders from all over. New friendships were formed. I am already looking forward to next year’s event!
