Default Title question...help!!

So I bought a shell and the guy that bought it from the lady signed it but never registered the title under his name before selling to me. I've been trying to contact him but i get no answer. I've looked up the lady, but I get no answer. Does anyone know a way to get the title under my name? I know there is a bunch papers you have to sign and things like that, but I was wondering if anyone has done this or know of somebody that went through the same situation. Thanks

So the lady signs it when she sells it to this guy, but this guy never registered in his name? Did HE sign it? If he didn't sign it, you sign as the buyer and register it, and Florida never knows that he owned it. If he did sign it, he needs to register it with the state in his name, get a title in his name, then sign it over to you. Or you need to get ahold of the lady, have her file for a lost title, then she can sign it as seller, you sign as buyer.

There is also a nice fine/penalty if you don't do the title transfer within thirty days of purchase...so hopefully there isn't a date prefilled on that title.

Why did you purchase a vehicle that wasn't in the sellers name ?

yeah he signed it and she signed it, he just never registerd it. I talked to him about a week after i bought it and we had a day to meet up so he could register it under his name and then sign it over to me. But now this faggot isent picking his phone up. and as far as the lady, I have no idea is she still lives her because both phones are disconnected.

That's a bummer. Do you know where the guy lives? You may be better off cutting your losses and learning a lesson, because it's going to cost him money to get it titled in his name, plus it's going to take him WANTING to help you for you to get a title. If he's unwilling to do either of these things, there's really nothing you can do to force him.

You never know. He could of stole the title from her or something and put his name on it. Have to be careful with this shit. THis happened to me too about 5 years ago. Lesson learned.

I have been in the same spot..

I had to get 2 papers notarized.. But you need the original owner... or.... you can pay a title service to get you the title..

But it will run you 500.00 +
