Default Anyone ever sell a car on Ebay?

I'm thinking about it but kind of paranoid about the whole process. Is it easy? How much does Ebay charge? How did you go about shipping? What about scams?

If I did it I would like it to be picked up locally, shipping sounds like too much of a hassle.

It is easy as long as the person pays up. I've sold a few but also had to relist 2 of them because people backed out. What's the big deal with shipping? After I received payment the people sent out the shipping company they are paying to pick up the vehicle. It usually works out to be ~$150 in ebay fees. If you limit yourself to a local pickup only, list it here on TR, auto trader, or craigslist as no one will bid and it wouldn't be worth the money to put it on ebay. When it comes to scams, dont get scammed. I only accept Paypal, money order, cashier's check, or a personal check if the person doesnt mind waiting for it to clear. If someone is only willing to commit to a deal if a wire transfer is involved, tell them to go to hell as that involves giving out your bank account number. Good luck!

I bough my '99 Civic Si off Ebay...paid cash $10.5 K back in the day I believe. Try craiglist too...and model-specific forums...and TR classified...and autotrader. Good chance that if your price is reasonable someone will buy it.

I have bought 6 cars and sold 2 on e bay. Both sales ended up being to people who picked the car up themselves. I took deposits with paypal within 24 hours and the balance in cash at delivery. All the cars I bought were from dealers so it was easy since they had all the paperwork done by their offices. One of the sale was to a local guy and I ran it throught the dealer where I bought my wife's car so I got the trade in value and reduced my sales tax for a minimal transfer fee.
