dat simple.
wouldn't work for me, my rich engine and 50lb flywheel just lets the car go, if i do it slow i won't stall, and it will idle like an auto in D

and yeah, that ferrari game was cool but the one i played was 10 kinds of F-ed up, so it didn't work right, i was pissed i forked out a whole dollar for like 10 seconds, ghey

either way, its a little differnt in an arcade game then real life

+1 on the thinking.
+1 on shifting slow.-Bob

I taught an ex-wife to drive a manual trans.
Man was she good! Get her on a curvy road and she would kick some butt!
I will always love her...for many reasons.-Bob

So tell us how it comes about that you don't have access to a car
to learn with........

you cant feel a clutch in an arcade, you cant feel the power delivery, all you feel is the fat kids sweat beading onto your arm as he asks if your almost done at chuckee cheese.

your gonna have to find someone that drives a stick teach you...

the way i learned was by letting the clutch out slowly without giving it gas and just holding it when it engauges and then give it gas when the car starts moving..

lets see...

---at stop---
clutch in
1st gear
give gas
(rpms fall back to idle)
clutch out
(stall)
Rinse and repeat if desired

---at stop #2---
clutch in
1st gear
give gas
clutch out while on gas
(car starts moving)
dump the clutch
(stall)

---while mooving---
gas out
clutch in
(rpms r @ idle by now)
shift gear
clutch out
(gear lock!)

best way to learn how to drive a stick is....

ride with ur friend in trafic
while u in turning lane wating on light, switch places
if u care that u look like ass trying to drive stick, u will learn quick

i went to buy my 1st car, it turned out to be 5spd. im like, fuck, no clue how to drive it. but i knew the concept behing driving 5spd. i stalled 2 times at 2 lights, in turning lane, in rushhour. i never staled after that.
