Either way, beating the shit out of the car on a daily basis is more critical than letting a few microns of dirt slip by the filter.

30+ grams compared to 4 grams? like the page said, only performance engines would be able to demand the kind of air flow that would prove any benefit of a more open filter. Thats all I was saying ill stick to paper till i get that turbo.

If the results of K&N surprise you, time to stab yourself. Its quite obvious K&N filters are less restrictive and flow more....thus...shit is going to get in your engine! Thats just how it works!

After a while its a good idea to clean out your engine. ATF is very high in detergents, and the smartest person car related I know will occasionally run a quart through with a full tank of gas

Hmm, after seeing the difference between a clean K&N and a dirty K&N I think I'll clean mine this weekend.

I've been on car boards where people were anal enough to before-and-after dyno test air filters and saw consistent gains from simply switching out a filter element. Not very big gains, but consistent gains, and most of these cars were stock so I wouldn't expect 20 hp out of a filter.

There is a formula that will show how many square inches of filter are needed
for a particular size engine, under whatever conditions you run it.
If you want less restriction, get a bigger filter! (check my profile to see what's used for "Senor Honda".)-Bob
