Ion headlamps

What gives headlamps the Ion blue tint to it? Is it just a film put over the headlamp?

it all depends if they are stock its made to look halogen with the film or bulbs. if its after market its usually the bulbs in them.

I mean the actual plastic, I have HIDs.

of yeah that's the film its supposed to help to resist scratches if you look real close it has like a greenish blue tint .
