out of carpet and vinyl, i like carpet better for speaker boxes. i have also used that textured spray trunk liner stuff before bc i was too lazy to do the carpet and it turned out really well. it just looked like carpet, but different! good luck!

i used to buy special box carpet from a audio shop. would always come out really nice. i would use heavy duty spray glue to hold it down.
