HID conversions
Alright I was wanting to go with some HIDs for my explorer and had some questions. First, how long do HIDs last usually? And what do you have to buy when they go out? Second, will a 8000k HID light put out great light output even though theres more bluish tint to it? I like the bluish part definitely but want good output as well. Whats the happy medium? Thanks for any info about HIDs in general.

isn't hid have xenon in it? If so I heard bad stuff about that I dont know. I will have to ask this guy I know. I would like to put led lights in them. Do'nt get hot and will never wear away and they barely use any power
yeah, and if u get ur fingerprints on the bulb, when it gets hot, i think they explode or burn or something ( from the grease on ur finger ). +1 on the LED's...never burn out, dont get hot, and use little power

a 8000K is going to be a blue tint, with less light output than the 4000-6000K kits.
4000-6000K is a nice white, with almost the best light output. The higher in lumens you go, the less light you get but the more color. So it depends if you want more light or more color.
They will last just as long as your car does if you wire them correctly. When I had them in my car last year, they were spectacular. I had a 6400K kit and it was a nice white and a shade of blue tint. The output was really good for me, and I didn't even adjust them until I sold them.
They won't hurt your OEM switch if you have the relay wired correctly, and they pull less power than OEM halogen bulbs. I can get you an HID kit if you need.. PM and I'll give you details on all the kits I sell.

no, youre all wrong, 8000k wavelength puts out more of a purple tint. my friend has the 6500k wavelenth on his WRX and its has a bluish tint to it and more white than blue.
sometimes the momentary push buttons that some cars have for fog lights or head lights dont energize the relay long enough to warm up the ballast and the wont turn the lights on. the fog lights on the WRX doesnt always light off due to the design of the switch.
and a decent kit lasts for 2000 hours.
