I agree that the subjective areas should be left out of final results, but should be included in some way as a side note.
I'd want to know about nonfunctional additions to the car, gutted interiors, etc when I was looking over the results.
This sounds like a really fun idea and I would be interested in seeing just where my car and I fell in line with some others out of general curiousity. I've tried to keep my car a well rounded daily driver and this would be a good way to find out. I've got no illusions about my car and have no desire to try and fill one of the 5 spots for the competition, there are plenty of others better suited for that.

I believe anything goes, and the cars will be voted/nominated in so choose your cars wisely. Like it says top 5 domestics top 5 imports.

I would avoid having complicated rulesets. What ends up happening if you implement rules is that you end up with competitors with the most amount of money finding unique ways to skirt the rules. If you want examples of this, just look at the NHRA Street Tire class.
It should be a street car shootout. Given enough time and money anyone can build a fast race car. I think many more people can relate to normal people, with normal cars competing against each other for the pure interest of the sport.
If someone wants to bring their stripped down, trailered race car to compete against some street cars to get some kind of hollow victory, well thats their choice to be a fag.
For overall car results a few simple rules can work: some form of cruise around town, no tire changes between events (run one type of tire for both the handling AND straight line event). I would avoid having things like minimum weights, etc.
And 4drwhore in the future please refrain from volunteering me into anything or speaking my behalf.

Before we go any further we should probably decide when it will be held and the type of events that will be held. Does anyone know if bmp has an oval that could be turned into a small road course? Also, it might be a good idea to contact Scott and see if we can bump up with a track event.

Someone suggested that everyone try to plan it around not this coming track event but the next one that way it would give plenty of people to get their money, shit and last things in order in time for the shoot out. That sounds like a good idea and maybe actually do this more then just once a year. You could start having TR shootout events.
BoostJunkie - I should have refrased my sentence better buy saying I would suggest and try to pursway you into participating and saying I "volunteered" you was obviously not the right termonolgy. My opology.
