I'm interested in this, too. The only OEM upgrade I know of for DSM's (having put no research into it yet) is the GVR-4 alternator pushing 90 amps compared to the ridiculous 65 amp stocker.

Question: is there an increase in parasitic loss with a higher amperage alternator? I don't think there would be much of one if any, but I don't know.

yes, there is a loss. Many dbrag high output alts run two alt belts for there alt. I have seen a couple HO alt throw there belts because of there tight windings.

I wish it were as easy as it is with my Explorer. Mralternator.com sells bolt-on upgrades up to 200amps.
