Which would you get ?
A 99 Cobra that has had the H.P. recall or a new GT ?
Lets hear the pros and cons.
Advantages and dis-advantages.
I know some of these answer but I do not follow the mod stuff like some of you guys.
P.S. NO it is not for me.

Oh boy where do I start?
j/k.
99 cobra
Pros: Better resale value, 4v engine, nice rims, limited # built, higher platform to start with, loves blowers!
Cons: IRS(Knuckle dragger speaking)
higher insurance and probably payments, internal parts more expensive.
99 GT
Pros: live axle, internal parts cheaper, insurance cheaper(I'm guessing), cost of car cheaper.
Cons: lower platform to start with, 80%(just a guess) end up putting a power adder on them to hit 12's, resale not as much as the 4v.
These are just off the top of my head. I'm sure there is more. They're both good in their own ways. I guess it really depends on how much money u wanna spend. I may be biased
but I would say 4v all the way. To each his own. -Mark

for street, cobra
but if your gonna rip it apart and race it---- 2V GT
it is chaper, and easier to do a build up .... and a GT with ported heads can see cobra HP#'s all day long
in fact, all the cobra really has on the GT is a little better flow #'s and the forged cranck with six bolt mains,
but then again the block is aluminum, and weaker than the GT's

Note- it was just in 5.0 Mag this month that a '03 GT ran a 13.8x in stock trim, stock tires and all.
A '99 Cobra and a '03 GT will cost the same so that is out the window. The '99 Cobra will have better resale value in a few yrs. GT's depresiate quick as Cobra's seem to level off.
Stock for stock the time will be about the same in the 1/4 with a slight edge going to the GT.
Mods are a cheeper on a GT but you get less hp out of them. It is a lot easier to make some big hp out of a 4v then it is a 2v.

Just buy a Fox body and put a carb on it, mod motors suck. What kind of a dumbass would own something with more than one cam anyways?

Face it the mod motors are good to about 450 h.p. and then they start to break stuff. Long live the almighty pushrods.

Gotta love sarcasm..........
Fact: mod motors are good to about 450 h.p. (block is good to well over a 1000rwhp)
Answer: True, with stock internals 450-500rwhp seems to be the limit.
Fact: 302 blocks are good to approx 500-550rwhp before they become two 4 cylinders. (I know there are expceptions with the Mexican blocks or the almight A4)
Answer: True regardless of internals
