Ford 4 cylinders

A friend of mine at work races sock cars @ Desota and Sunshine. They run 4 cyclinders out of mustangs I think. They run 14 something in an oval. It got me thinking what is the fastest Ford 4 Cyl out there?

Possibly the Esslinger ZX2 drag car, or one of the two ZX3 full drag cars. To my best knowledge they run sub-9 second quatermile times. The WRC Foci in Europe come in around 300-400hp too. All of these motors are based on the 2.0l Zetec...with the exception of the newest WRC Foci that run the new Duratec 4-banger.

The fastest 4 cylindery that I've heard of...or at least when they get the bugs worked out is from an integra funny car. Twin turbo, either 4.something or 5.something liters. They aren't allowed to actually compete because of safety regulations that are currently in place by the NHRA.

This would be my area of expertise :)

Joe Morgan with the yellow RWD focus ran a 9.20 but hurt the motor soon after on the dyno (it made 800 hp). Joe made the 800hp with stock crank and block.

John Dellblair of Texas went a 9.30 @ 145 in a full weight SVO mustang (a/c, ps, full interior) but he has a rare Ford Motorsport block with stroker crank (2.8 litre instead of 2.3 like Joe).

There are 2 video's of John Dellblairs 9.30 run on my web site:
