i called diablo a while back and one of their people told me it was an older chip and only 2 places in all the US can tune it. now i want to know if that is 100% true before i send it in. so if u guys know someone or a shop that can tune it that would be AMAZING

Ok, I'll give the short answer first, and then a longer explanation after for those so inclined.
Short version.
It is very possible that there are only a few places left that can program those. I however, have the stuff to program it, and possibly to read it. If it is the older hardware, it is a little bit of drama for me to program it, but I can get it done.
Long version.
Diablo has had 3 chip versions in recent history. They are as follows,
1.) Red 1 bank
2.) Red 4 bank DELTA
3.) Black 4 bank DELTA CMR
The first two were implemented before the custom tuning revolution. They are known as 'can' tune chips. Back in the day, if you wanted a Diablo chip, you would roll down to Blue Oval Corral and tell them what was done to your car. They could log into a web site of pre-made tunes for various combos. They would select the one most similar to yours, and download it. It then cost a certain number of 'ticks' to burn that tune onto a blank chip. The difference between the two Red chips is actually an interesting technical discussion involving legal litigation between Mike Wesley and Ford, but is beyond the scope of this discussion. Suffice to say, the 1 bank was intended for 87-95 cars and some 96-04. The 4 bank would work on everything 87-2004. With the availability of custom tuning, the demand for 'can' chips has gone the way of the dinosaurs. I imagine there are still a few hold-outs left that manage to sell these, but I expect they are few.
The Black Delta CMR chips are what is used today by CMR Custom tuning shops. Those can be programmed on site with CMR software for whatever the customer needs.
There is an exception to this. A few years ago, Diablo ran out of black circuit boards for CMR chip production, so, for a few weeks, they produced 'Black' CMR chips, on red boards. These are identical to the one you have pictured. They looked identical to the older red Delta chips, but were compatible with CMR. If the chip is a few years old, I would guess that is what it is. If it is over 4 years old, then it is probably the old design.
For whatever reason, Diablo made the Black CMR chips incompatible with the older 'Red' chips. They even use a different burner to program them. I however, have both programmers, and I figured out how to write a custom tune to the old red chips. Because the programmer is so old for the red chips, and because they were never meant to have a custom tune written to them, it is a little song and dance I have to go through to make it happen, but, it does work.
Thats the history lesson for the day. Now I'm just waiting for someone to ask what the deal was with Mike Wesley and Ford.

Yours is a CMR Delta which holds two separate 'tunes' and has a disable option to revert back to whatever is in the PCM, giving the appearance of three 'tunes'.
Chris, honestly, I forgot to look. I'll do my best to remember.

Those older Red chips are for the most part worthless at this point, the Black is the standard now! I have a Red one with a custom tune for a bolt on 2V, who wants it? $25!

Good afternoon to all
,
Brian at EFI-Unlimited,
I have an old red DiabloSport Delta chip 4 bank the one the says Im two horney across the top between the horns of the board
that I purchased from someone who had the same car as I do, '00 Mustang GT 5spd. I wanted to find out if you could program this chip for me to my cars mods and how much this would cost and what I would need to do to make this happen. Thank you in advance
