Default 97 escort

I'm working on a 97 escort 2.0 and it won't start it is geting fuel and spark and won't start and the timing belt is ok I'm leaning toward the crank shaft sensor or camshaft sensor any help would be appriciated

are the injectors firing? Does it run on carb cleaner or either ? If its getting fuel and fire whats the compression ?

Yes the injectors are firing I put noid lights on them they are all working and i sprayed ether in the intake and got nothing

Yes it has spark I pulled the wires 1 by 1 and used a spare spark plug test it aginst the valve cover and every 1 had spark and seemed pretty strong

These cars don't have ignition problems usually...Unplug the MAF and try to start it. Also, check the compression or at least pull the plugs out and see if they are missing any parts :o . They are more common for the intake valve seats dropping and imploding the motors .

The plugs were wet and old I already changed them and I will try the mass air flow And will try and locate a compression tester what should the compression be at

Compression should be around 150, wet plugs tell me you either have no spark, no compression, or too much fuel

I doubt it has to much gas and the coil is firing on all 4 and I put noid lights on the injectors and they are working I seems out of timing but the timing in ok I even sprayed ether in the intake and nothing
