I want one of these ! Anyone what to go to Australia with me ?
Ford has released a version of its market-leading ute and has called it funnily enough the Falcon XR8 Pursuit 250 Ute.
The potent newcomer is Fords answer to what it calls overwhelming response to the original Pursuit Ute released last year.
It is a response to what Ford Australia President Geoff Polites calls consumers looking for more.
Weve answered them by adding the Tickford-developed 5.6-litre V8 that delivers exceptional amounts of power and torque Mr Polites said.
The engine is the same stroked version of the Windsor V8 thats now also in Fords T-Series cars. And power and torque figures are a numerically-neat.
Engine modifications include new lightweight pistons billet conrods 82mm progressive cam throttle body ceramic-coated exhaust manifolds and unique Tickford-developed camshafts and valves.
The manual gearbox is a heavy-duty Tremec five-speed and a limited slip differential is standard. A four-speed automatic transmission is also available.
As youll see from the photos the nose gets the traditional XR quad-light treatment and there is a new front air dam. Theres also a unique high wing rear spoiler and hard tonneau cover. Also new are a rear bumper fascia with exposed twin exhaust pipe and new side skirts.
Wheels are five-spoke 18 x 8-inch alloys and tyres are high performance Dunlop SP9000s.
The standard brakes look up to the job courtesy of four-piston 329mm grooved discs up front and four-piston 287mm grooved discs at the back teamed with Boschs three-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). If youre keen theres also a $5350 Brembo upgrade available with 355mm front and 330mm rear discs.
Seats are charcoal leather and the speedo is a unique 240 km/h unit with blue graphic display. Other interior highlights include 100-watt prestige sound system with six-stack in-dash CD player power windows air-conditioning twin airbags steering wheel mounted cruise control and Momo steering wheel and gear knob. The Falcon XR8 Pursuit 250 Ute will be in dealer showrooms next week with the manual priced at $54250 and the automatic $54912.
The optional hard tonneau cover is $2750.

Whats so wrong with looking like an import? Designs coming from overseas helped push domestic car makers get more creative. Alot of Japanese car manufacturers set the benchmark on new style. If everything in the US still looked like the fox-body Mustang Id get the hell out of this country.

As soon as I posted this originally I thought to myself that someone would say well this is a import. But I guess I consider imports to be Asian cars.
I am glad to see more agressive styling that is somewhat influenced from overseas. I just do not want to see every car in this country look like a flattened bubble. If you notice a lot of the auto. makers are actually go back to old school (rigid) body styles now. Both foreign and domestic.
And I know not all cars can look as good as the Fox body stangs of the past.
