Default Going a different route with my 86 GT

After finding some major issues with my engine I have decided to take a different track with it. I have a chance to get a 351w from a 92 e350 van so I'm going to do the swap. I also have some GT40 heads I'll put on her that I'm going to rework.

Anyone have any pointers on this swap? I know I need a new oil pan I'm pretty sure everything else will swap over...

As some of you may know I traded a 99 durango for an 86 mustang gt t-top. I showed some pictures a while back it's pretty clean.

Here's what the mod list was told to me when I traded .

93 Cobra motor bored 30 over
1.6 Ford SVO rockers
Port and Polished heads with bigger valves
New water pump
---------------------------
Here's what it actually has after taking the heads off
1.6 Ford SVO rockers
86 stock motor with stock E6SE heads
standard 4" bore
wrong water pump (reverse flow)
blown headgasket and fat intake leak
-----------------------------------------
Here's some pics...

heads are e6, but the shortblock is not a 86 Mustang HO. In 86 the pistons did not have any valve reliefs at all. Only in 86 was it this way for the Mustang.

Yeah, I think it had a nice set of heads on there at one time and someone threw the cheapest of the cheap heads on there when they got rid of it. I also forgot to mention that the cylinders are pretty egg shaped below the ring lands so the block would have to be bored and all that mess, if I'm going to do all that it's going on a larger motor that can make some worthwhile power from doing th work .

I only paid $1500 for the Durango, and some time replacing the rear seal and ball joints etc. So I think I'm still ahead on this deal since it still is actually an 86GT T-Top. I'm sure the 351w will wake this beast up It had a worn out T-5 in it, I swapped a TCI C-4 reverse valve body with TCI 3400 stall converter, Hayes SFI flexplate and an aluminum driveshaft thinking the car had enough go to need it

If I was you I wouldnt use the 92 motor get a 95 or later e350 motor they are set up for roller give you more cam options. I was out at the junk yard two weeks ago and they are all over the place. I think they still want 70$ for short blocks. New berings mabe a set of rings hand hone the cylinder walls and you good to go.

buy a good 1/2 drill bit to drill out the bolt holes in your heads.

haha yeah

I already have the ARP bolt kit with the sleeves to swap over. I guess I'll just use the stock flexplate for now since my 50oz Hayes SFI won't work with it. Or see if anyone has a 28oz one I could trade them .

That would work, but I dunno who the original storyteller is

My brother traded the guy from a craigslist ad (who just bought the car from what I can tell) an infiniti j30 for it and I traded my brother the Durango for the car. I think I've owned it longer than alot of people from the carfax report but at least there's no claimed accidents! .
