Problem, starter wont turn over.
Just did a 2v to 4v swap. 96 Cobra motor into 96 GT.
I took the motor out of Lady Hurst's 96 Cobra and put it in my 96 GT. I kept the Cobra engine harness intact. I just unplugged it at the firewall and disconnected everything else from the chassis.
The motor is in the car now. The problem is that the starter wont turn over. This is not my first time pulling a 4.6 motor. Both cars drove into the shop. Mechanically the 4v motor is 100%. Everything is wired in correctly with the exception of a small round plug the is right in front of where the engine harness plugs into the firewall at. The GT plug had 4 prongs,.. and the Cobra motor only has 2. Not only that,.. the tits on the plug were offset differently. I cut the snap off and now the plug fits,.. but with only 3 wires. I seriously doubt this is the culprit of my problems.
I currently have the GT computer in the car. I will replace it with the Cobra computer tomorrow. The starter is getting no power at all when the key is turned. Its like when the PATS system is activated. It does nothing. How ever you can hear the fuel pump kick on,.. you can also hear all the other computer relays kick on also. All the fuses are good. How ever,.. I neglected to think about the IMRC fuse. The GT didnt have a need for one. I'm hoping I can add the IMRC fuse and with the Cobra computer it works.
Everything is wired correctly. Its not a faulty ground. The only conclusions I can come up with is that its either the PATS system or the GT computer is not happy.
I know of guys running Mark 8, Cobra motors and also Mach1 motors with the 96 - 98 GT computer. They just swapped out the COPs for the coil modules.
I'm baffled as to why this motor wont start.
Any opinions or suggestions is welcomed.

Power to the solenoid? Have you checked it? Check the swith input from the Neutral switch, and possibly see if you can bypass with a jumper. Should start. if you dont have power on the solenoid, could be the ignition switch. gotta love those pesky electricl gremlins, I am dealing with them now on my project truck.

Solenoid is in the starter. Not a fox. This is a 4v Cobra motor.
After speaking with a person who has very good knowledge on the subject,.. its a combination of having the GT computer still in the car which has no provision for the IMRC plates. And possibly the PATS code being confused with a different style engine harness.
