Rainbow Muffler should be close enough to you over in clearwater and I know they do some custom exhaust stuff. Seems like some people have had pretty good luck with them - I had one good and one not as good experience there so I guess I'm split. The name always seems to come up though so I figured I'd throw it out there...

flowmasters always sound good on a ford, but there are tons of other mufflers out there that have a great sound also. i've used rainbow muffler also before a few times, they seem to do just fine, i mean that's what they do...mufflers. good luck

Flows sound the best to me. What exactly are you having done to the exploder..I mean explorer? TRUE duals? Or just a single to dual? Putting in a "test pipe" or running the cat? I've never heard of "Rainbow Muffler", so I don't know anything about them good or bad. If you go there, let us know either way what your experience was. I would say around $250-300 would be a decent price depending on what mufflers you get and what size pipe you use. But I don't own a shop either. I only used to work in one.....And I wasn't the priceing person. Just the welder.

They are a chain of muffler shops over here in the St.Pete/Clearwater. Well not really a chain I think there are only 2 of them, but I guess 2 makes them a chain right?

Anyway they have been around for a long time. Before I knew how to weld they did some exhuast work for me. But I have seen good work and bad work come from them. Its not the stores fault, its more on who did the welding work. How good he is at his skill. Know what I mean?

I know EXACTLY what you mean. When I was working in a muffler shop, I saw some HIDEOUS work come through. It always left nice, but man....some of it was just hideous. Then I also saw some directioonal mufflers come through the shop installed the wrong way. The people were upset with the sound and performance. We would show them the mistake by another shop, and fix it. Then they were almost ALWAYS happy. The times they weren't was a sound issue, which we would just replace the muffler with another one and then they were happy. ALWAYS had repeat business....but that was back in Washington state. Sigh....Oh well.... So much for those days. I was MUCH poorer then than I am now. LOL Hopefully, Rainbow works for him.
