Default Differential question

I've been checking out spools for the hell of it and read that a mini/full spool can't be used in a casing that is a factory clutch type lsd.
Is this true?

If so, what can be used, only that factory unit?

Not trying to change your mind but if this is going to be used in a street application, THEY SUCK!!! Good for a track car but for street way to harsh.
If you have the extra clutches installed in the LSD youll wont have any issues for a fairly stout build.Sorry couldnt answer you ? thought Id throw that at ya

Hehe, I knew this would come up. I was looking around for a buddy with an open differential. I was just curious, I do have the clutch which will be rebuilt and I'll be using.

What type of rear end is this going into. Is this the same topic thread you have over in another forum. If so you ask about IRS so I am assuming its a Ford 8.8 IRS from a cobra maybe?

The two topics are related.

The mini spool is going into a GM 7.5" 10-bolt rearend. I referred to the IRS because he is kind of wanting to go to one for camber adjustability with a air-bag set-up.
