2000 Focus Problem, Need Help ASAP...

Default 2000 Focus Problem, Need Help ASAP...

Ok, So I have a 2000 Ford Focus ZX3 as my DD. And recently when I drive it it shudders horribly when I give it gas, also the speedo, tach, and radio all jump when I give it gas. It has gotten to the point where I cannot drive it and its my only car with AC. So far I have reset the ECU by unplugging the battery for 10 minutes and also checked the EGR system. Anyone have any clue, Im stumped. Oh and if it helps the car only has 60k on it.

fuel pump clogged or on it's way out.

Maybe, would that cause the Speedo to jump tho, even when its in neutral and the car is stopped, it'll jump to 10mph.

Check your battery and all connections. Also check all the grounds. Sounds like an electrical problem IMO.

battery could be bad. mine did it(powerloss and wacky gauges) and after it was replaced never happened again.

My guess....Check the TPS (throttle position sensor) Easy fix, around $50 bucks.

No check engine light, and it isn't throwing any codes, Ill check the battery and grounds later today. Also I just found this while on another forum and it sounds like my problems to me. What do you think? And if its a service bulletin does that mean ford will fix it or is that only with recalls. Thanks.

6226 2000-2002 FOCUS - INTERMITTENT ERRATIC GAUGE SWEEP, CRANK NO START, HARD START, AND VARIOUS OTHER ELECTRICAL AND/OR DRIVEABILITY CONDITIONS
SOME 2000-2002 FOCUS MAY EXHIBIT A GROUND RELATED CONDITION WITH INTERMITTENT ERRATIC GAUGE SWEEP, CRANK NO START, HARD START, AND VARIOUS OTHER ELECTRICAL AND/OR DRIVEABILITY CONDITIONS. INSPECT GROUNDS G1/G24/G41/G54 AND G56 FOR LOOSENESS OR CORROSION. ALSO, CHECK FOR A VOLTAGE DROP ACROSS THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE TO BOTH THE ENGINE BLOCK AND CHASSIS. G1 IS LOCATED UNDERNEATH THE AIR CLEANER, G24 IS LOCATED ON THE RIGHT HAND 'A' PILLAR (WIRING SCHEMATIC SECTION 700-06-00- 29 OR 30). Yeah it sounds like a ground issue. I had it happen on the cobra a few months ago.
