i got a 97 cobra with mac longtubes bbk x pipe,mac intake, and a 150 shot wet . i would like to be around 430whp ,would i be able to on this set up, with a good tune ? or do i just not have enough ? thanks for any help

 

You will probably be right around the low end of 400RWHP

 

i was stock with a 150shot i made 388whp and 410wtq . put all the other parts on .and once i get a chance im going to port my upper and lower

 

With good exhaust like you mentioned, and a 150 shot, you should be at least 420 RWHP depending on which nitrous kit. But I suggest taking it easy on the spray if you go with bolt-ons in addition because you will begin to exceed the integral parameters of the rotating assembly.

 

well what iv hurd is 450whp is a safe limit.over that then the pistons like to crack . the motor has just been refreshed .. i hoping for 11.99 or better on stickys ,my friends cobra went 12.00 with nittos and his is a drop top [almost same set up],im hoppen to be faster because of the weight ..

 

That is not true, 450 is a breaking point for most that I've seen. 400 is "safe" and somewhat reliable if the tune is right, I personally am willing to run 420 or so in the interest of going faster. But any more is asking for rod failure in a matter of time.

Also 11.99 is attainable with 400 rwhp and traction.

 

a guy that works at coastal told me they start breaken after 460whp

 

I heard it was 465rwhp...

It could break break at 375rwhp, or it could hold 550rwhp.. get a good tune on it, and let her rip.

 

im going to get a good tune but ,i might to make the power i want turn it up to a 175 shot .

 

There ya go, that's what it comes down to, but if you want to make power on the stock shortblock, be prepared to rebuild if necessary.

4.6 rods tend to give out at 450 from allll the cars I have seen trying to push it. Good luck and get Sam to tune it.
