intake question
well if i havent told everyone already im putting together a 347 dss block w/ some afr 185's w/ 54cc chambers and probabily an "F" cam or something of that sort with a 150 wet shot. i was just woundering if you guys thought a performer intake would flow enough on this motor while juice'n it?
and if you had any recomendations on a cam for this setup. thanks in advance don

I have a similar setup with a 347, AFR 185s, and something a little closer to an X-cam. I put on the Performer RPM and lost 40rwhp over the stock Cobra intake I had.
It is backwards from everything I thought, but that was just what happened. It is crazy, but I have witnesses and dyno sheets.
Oh yea, I swapped the Cobra back on and gained it all back.

Since you're going to use nitrous oxide your best bet is to get a split duration / split lift cam shaft with which nitrous works best with. The alphabet camshafts are good, but outdated and are not split lift/duration cams.

well the problem i hear with"nitrous" cams is that without the juice the car is a turd but when you spray it it really starts running. Im not going to be juicin it all the time(well i plan not too) and would like to have a cam that is equally good off the bottle. or am i shootin high?

That RPM seems to hold it's own on that little ol' 302
5.0 mag. did an intake test a few months on an AFR headed 347.
The gt40 similar to the cobra ran real well. Think over the entire power curve it had higher total hp+tq #s than the Performer, RPM, BBK, Trick flow(can't remember which one). The test motor also had a smallish cam.
^^Oldman's 347 runs strong with the *unported* Cobra.

Both of "Oldman's" intakes are box stock. The Preformer RPM never made the #s on the 347 but works great on his 302 w/boost. Would have liked to have been able to swap to a regular Performer upper while it was on the 347 just to see.
