Default Focus ZTS owners

Just bought my Focus and am looking to do some all motor upgrades, I'm also new to Ford so I don't know much about them, any help would be greatly appreciated.

My best advice, Ford Tech.

What is a Focus ZTS? Try Ford tech like Acid said there are a few Focuses on the board.

Good to see the post moved & the drama deleted.

First of all, is the car a manual or auto? If it is an auto, you have to be careful as the innards are made of paper mache. Abused autotragic Foci have a hard enough time staying in one piece with a stock motor, so if you plan on upgrading the motor you must also plan on some transmission upgrades (Ford Racing sells a couple things for the autotragic).

The 2.0l Zetec responds well to the usual bolt-ons. My '00 ZX3 saw some great gains with a conical air filter, 4-1 race header, and exhaust. Forget exactly what the car dyno'd, but it was a fairly impressive gain for the minimal mods.

By far, the best bang for the buck are cams. Crower Stage 2 cams are fairly cheap and do not require shimming of the lash caps (under normal circumstances). They changed the whole attitude on my Focus. Where the powerband dropped off around 5000 rpm stock, the cams made power all the way up to redline.

In short...full exhaust, some sort of air induction, and cams will get you the best power for the money. The car will never be fast, but with a few bolt ons and some decent suspension bits the car can be a blast to drive.

Thanks for the info, I'm new to ford so I don't really know much about them. My ZTS is a DOHC 2.0, I just replaced the factory straw with a 2 1/4 stainless pipe from the flex pipe back, I have ordered a Focus Central header and off-road pipe with the cat. If this Focus is anything like my 10 sec. '97 DOHC all motor neon, this car will eat mustangs for breakfast! Ironicly my neon was t-boned by a Ford Excursion. I will post my upgrades as they performed. I almost in the very near future I will be doing a Kuegler v-8 swap to my Focus. SICK!

If I were you, I would cancel your order for the FocusCentral header. Every "generation" of that header has looked like shit and had some serious issues (cracking at the welds is/was common). Their customer service is also lackluster if/when you have a problem with the header.

If you do a header, don't even bother with the shorty design. Minimal gains and TONS of headache with installation. Long tube headers yield the best gains and are very simple to install. I'm a HUGE fan of the Focus Sport long tube. Great quality made by a company that actually backs their products.

A cheap alternative for an aftermarket long tube is the SVT 4-2-1 header. Requires a bit of modification for the O2 sensors and whatnot...but very cheap and quite effective.
