Default 1st time at track with the 05

Only got 3 runs in so not much practice time. Car runs a fine line between wheel hop past the 60ft. timers or fall on it's face bog. Wheel hop run was traction control off bringing it out around 3K semi quick release of clutch. Tried to ease back the thotlle to stop the hop but it wasn't happening so I just put it back to the floor. Ran a 15.0 @ 99 LOL.....3.2 60ft. Next run traction control on reved to 3500 and dumped the clutch, felt like I stalled the car almost then woke back up and powershifting into 3rd it fell flat again for a split second, but improved to a 14.2 @ 99. Third run, traction control off, walked it out just off idle and as soon as it was rolling started feeding in the gas and got a 2.1 60ft. stumble was gone on the powershift to 3rd and ran through the traps with a 14.1 @ 101. Not too bad I suppose for being 90+ out and around 70% humidity, stone stock, 1/2 tank of fuel, and still carring everything it came from the factory with. Wish i had more runs to play with to try and get the launch down but the track was running slow and was packed with racers. This cars not as easy as my 10 second 89 coupe with slicks thats for sure, it maybe alot slower but it takes a gentle touch to make it work good. Got my baseline so let the mods commence

damn it should run 13.6-.5 or so at like 103....meh weather wasnt right for racing...nice stang

I'm sure I could do better but with only 3 runs it's hard to find what the car wants. I have been drag racing for 19 years so I'm far from green to the track. Weather is a part but the drive by wire setup is a real handicap in this car without any tune or flash, working with what Ford gave it right now. At least I went undefeated on my 3 runs lol. Some kid in a 96-98 cobra said he ran 13.2's and was hoping to get in the 12's with his new MT drag radials was beat by me twice. He was going through the water and burning them hard, not me bypass the water and not even a dry hop just pull to the lights. Second guy to go down is the one next to me in the picture, and that was on my worse pass(the 15 second abortion run).

A quick little burn to clean them off probably would have helped... did you play with air pressure at all?

Not bad for this weather and not much seat time. :bigthumbL

Nope nothing, wanted to run the car as is no funny stuff. Even a quick little burn on these tire turns then into grease, I've done a few healthy back road burndowns with them. I will definatly be back out with it for some more seat time but this things really needs a throttle cable lol! Maybe I'll toss some et streets on it for the next time out. Car just hit 2,500 miles on it too so it's got some loosening up to do yet.

Hey- If you need some lower control arms to make it hook, let me know. I have a brand new set ot the UPR lowers for the 05 (part #2002-11). They sent me the wrong set, and never asked for them back. They retail for $180. I will let them go for $100. They are brand new and never been bolted on anything. Let me know and I will bring them to Tampa next week. My email is flgants@earthlink.net

where u out on saturday with the 05? i was there too, only got 2 passes and mustarded a 13.9@99 with my whooping 212 rwhp i wanted to see that 05 run too
