Default Rim Tech question

I am looking at rims and tires for my Stang. What is the backspacing I need to be looking for when I order my rims? What is the norm?

It varies to a huge degree depending on your setup and wheel/tire size. Details man.

Sorry for the brain fart. 87 LX, I am going to run street tires, I want the widest tires I can run out back without too much tire sticking out of the wheel well. Want to run 225's up front and 275's out back if I can get the 275's under the fender. I am running 255's out back right now. I didn't know if there was a certain depth from the lugs to the inside of the fender that I could use.

I ran 275/50 bfg's which are a very wide 275 with no mods other than a rolled lip on the fenderwell. I believe they were 4.5 backspacing.

Ford's 4 lug 17x8 cobra r's have 5.15" backspacing.

That should give you a decent starting point.
