Anyone know a Good shop where I can have a set of heads done? need 3 angle and Milling done. need someone with quick turn-around who can work from an appointment and deadline(reasonable) Looking to take heads off when my wife has the baby because she wont be able to drive and I can use her truck while my Driver is down.also does anyone know how much to take off of Explorer GT-40's(not P) to bring compression to 9.5 with stock Block?

 

I know of a couple good machine shops... But they wont have a quick turn around... If i were u, I wouldnt want to take somthing to a machine shop, and geta "quick" turn around. That would mean they arnt very busy....and there might be a reason for that... just somthing to think about....

just want a way to schedule things "have used pletchers in the past but took me 5 weeks to get my block back last time after simple work being done.
this wont happen til october so I have time to give them plenty of notice and they should be able to get me scheduled if I give them 4+months of lead time.

 

save a little cash and by when october comes sell ur gt40s and pick up some alum heads. afr165, trickflow wedged, or some eldbrocks. Sellin ur gt40 for 250-300 dollar and not payin for the machine work will make it like ur gettin a set of kick ass heads for 500 bucks.

if you just need your heads preped, go to clearwater cylinderheads

they were very fast and did a great job

 

dont want alum heads had a bad experience before with alum heads, slightly overheated and blew a gasket then had them decked and put it back then valve guides broke loose then the valve guides were fixed then bolthole stripped out in front of head throwing belt then it overheated again, kinda pissed me off and left a $2500 bad taste in my mouth.
