Carbed fuel system question

Carbs are completely foreign to me so I may ask a few questions to get some help along the way. I'm finally working on my carbed V8 coupe and I'm routing the fuel lines. Its got steel braided line coming from the fuel cell to a BG 280 pump and Aeromotive filter. Which goes first, the filter or the pump? I'm almost positive its the filter, but just want to verify. Also, does the Barry Grant BG280 pump have a built in FPR? Its got a big adjustment screw on it and I think I remember seeing before that it does. This ties into my next question. The carb that I'm running is a dual inlet Holley. I've got a small Holley FPR that mounts on the fenderwell that's standard issue. If the pump has a built in regulator, can I still use the Holley up front as a splitter for my feed line into my dual inlet carb? Maybe set the pump to run at 8-9 psi, then run it down at the front to 6-7?

And finally, the front FPR fits best on the strut tower, but that is abotu 8" above the header. Does anyone think this will pose an issue with vapor lock? I will be driving this car on the street occasionally. Would I benefit from wrapping the fuel lines from the regulator to the carb in that reflective heat tape?

Thanks for all your help.

filter first, then pump.

i know exactly where your talking about mounting you regulator as mine is in the same place.

i have longtubes and no heat soak or vapor lock.

have you cut your braided line yet?

best way i could come up with was electrical tape and a dremmel with a cut off disc.

good luck, if you need any help pm me and ill meet ya. this stuff can be a bitch. i may have a few been there done that pointers.

+1 filter first.
the braided line can be a pain in the rear.the best way is to use electrical tape then a dremel or a die grinder with a cutoff wheel.

I have always put my regulator on the strut tower and have not had a problem with it using it there with 302 and 351's.

I am also good at setting up holley carbs(if that is what you are using).let me know,I would be glad to help.

Yea like everyones said, filter than fuel pump. Thats how it is on my car. I just don't have the pretty braided fuel lines:(

first off, nice choice in pumps. i would not limit the pressure at the pump, as it is relative to flow. this will all be accomplished by the regulator to ballpark 7 psi. glad to hear the car is progressing.
how does the hood fit? ever find that speed-density chip?

I haven't arranged the hood pins yet for the new hood but they are only slightly off so it won't be too much trouble.

I looked for it in the attic of my garage, but my light went out up there so its tough to see. I've just been too lazy to change the light out yet, but I need to get some stuff moved around so I should have it soon.

i wouldn't adjust the fuel pressure at the pump Dave, leave it as is and adjust with the regulator in your engine compartment. Also, placement is fine as I have mine mounted there in the past as well..

Good pump, that's what I was using on my last combo..

I had a vapor lock issuse with mine before the turbo. But it had more to do with the low rising intake than anything else. I installed a phenolic spacer between the carb and intake, it solved the problem.
