Compression ratio question.
whats the highest compression ratio you can run on street gas? I was told many different things in the past few days. Can some one clarify this for me?

A few years ago, I was at about 11.5 with my old Trophy Stock engine. With the timing at 34, I used 93 without any problems.

It really depends on a bunch of things, are the heads aluminum or cast iron, how well do they flow, what shape are the piston crowns, what are the cam specs, what is the operating range of the engine RPM wise.
A high reving, big cammed, 4 valved head with efficient ports can run a bunch more timing than a flathead V8.

My 351 was 11.0/1..40 over.Solid roller,flattops,58cc AFR heads.I ran nothing but 93 octane and never had any problems. That was at 36 total timing.
