American Iron National Convention
American Iron National Convention
I went to the first American Iron National race this weekend at Mid Ohio. What a great weekend it was, the track is awesome, a real challenge to learn in short time, and there was a great turnout in AI, something like 20+ cars. All the big names in the class were there and I met alot of the guys from Corner carvers.com.

I qualified in 6th on sat even though I only got about six laps in before 3rd gear decided it had enough. good thing I had an extra tranny w/ me. in the race on sat. I droped to 8th then ended up finishing 5th. On sun I qualified 6th but when they took two of the top five cars to the dyno and scales they turned out to be underweight and had to start at the back so I started 4th. I passed the guy in a camaro for third and then the top 2 cars broke, one was Robin Burnett in the Steeda car, so I was leading AI for like 5 laps then just as I went across the start line w/ three to go my car started misfiring then it just went dead. I coasted off the track and watched the Camaro take the win. turns out the little roll pin that holds the gear on the distributor shaft broke.
