starter

where can i get a starter new or rebuilt or used for a 91 ford escort gt
thas the one with the BP1.8 motor in it
i believe thas the one that cross reference with the older mazda cars.

the cheapest i can find is $135

That is as cheap as your gonna get. I work for Ford, list price is $162.45 (reman) with a core of coarse, but remember you get what u pay for.

damn ... i got a remanufactured starter for my 5.0 for i think 50 bucks? I guess that particular part has less demand.

S281_158 09-02-2003 11:55 AM

5.0's a popular as hell too! how often do u see a 1.8 escort?

TheShow50h 09-02-2003 11:57 AM

Hence why i said, and i quote, "I guess that particular part has less demand." :D

S281_158 09-02-2003 12:00 PM

and i bet your $50 starter will take a shit is 2 years

TheShow50h 09-02-2003 01:23 PM

 I don't know what your trying to say with that.

That doesn't really have anything to do with this thread, so stop with the hijacking.

If you keep talking shit on my starter though, I may get offended

btw, rishi. I assume you've tried autozone or pepboys for a remanufactured one. Although your particular model seems to be quite rare. I'm sure ford has been using that starter that you have and that same starter probably fits many applications.

EsCoRtLvR 09-02-2003 03:30 PM

Ford didn't use that starter at all since it was a Mazda motor and tranny ;) That motor is and won't be cheap to get parts for. There is however a 1.8BP in an Escort in Plant City Auto Salvage I saw a few weeks ago. It may still be there.
