Actually yeah they can,. they have the variable cylinder technology and at 50 mph like the Mustang, I'm sure their getting close to that. My full size Silverado with 5.3 gets 25 - 27 mpg at 45 - 50 mph. Thats the sweet spot for mpg in my truck (According to the onboard mpg thingy). Doesnt mean I'm going to get out on the interstate and stay at 50 mph just to get the best mpg. I dont have the patience for that.

Economical and performance doesnt matter here. There was a guy that comes to mind when I hear stories like this a name comes to mind...Charlie Harris (Charlie Harris Pontiac's son), anyone that used to street race back in the day will get a laugh out of this too.

Got to see a new 5.0 today. Super nice car! The one I saw was Grabber Blue with the Brembo brakes and 5spd. The car full Stainless Works exhaust, cold air, gears, and a tune making 400+ to the wheels. This thing made 369 rwhp stock.
Anyways some good and bad.
Rumor says that because of Ca. emissions the factory headers will be replaced with cast iron. Way cool windage tray built into the oil pan gasket. The new variable cam timing is bad ass. The clutch on the MT cars has some issues releasing at higher revs.

You are right, it was a manuel trans 6spd. My brain can't remember yet that the auto and stick are both 6spds. For years the auto was 4 and the stick was 5. Tuff getting old.
