Hey from Orlando
Found the site after reading a post somewhere, which linked me somewhere else, which linked me here.
I currently own a white '96 Cobra ragtop. It's only got 3.73s, upper and lower control arms and a cold air for now, exhaust is completely stock. Went a best of 13.53 and 104.39 on Nittos before the CAs went in.
I make it over to Tampa every once in a while when I'm not hanging in downtown Orlando with my crew. Maybe I'll run into some of you sometime.

You've got it, Dan!Didn't know that we were that well-known. I was one of the original six almost two years ago before we grabbed that corner spot and blew up. Have you ever stopped by over here?

i have yet to actually stop there, its usually
A) too crowded,
B) i feel inferior since i am driving a stock nissan 240sx at the moment (at least its rwd though
)
i have been catty corner once or twice whenever the imports (usually nissans/dsms/supras) have been out there but i dont see much there lately, except bikes, since it is quite small to fit any number of cars in there. i am usually at bennigans where the original nissans met long ago but we have grown to accept turbo DSMs, some swapped honda hatchbacks/turbo hondas, and the token rx7, supra, fast import crowd. however it seems ever since sonics over on i-drive supposedly got closed off to the show/lowrider scene, they have been swarming bennigans with their burnouts and rice tactics and we afraid our spot wont last much longer.
were beginning to meet at garage advance, located at vinci hi performance off 50 past john young pkwy (its a well known f-body/camaro shop that we are taking over once they move to a new location - for now just the dyno/back areas), its actually an Streetracing.org meetup, but maybe u can stop by one saturday i think its like 830-9pm were trying to do one tonight hopefully people show up.
i see that that corner is usually filled with a few cars pretty much 7 days a week, it seems i hear the older/veteran fuel sluts seperate themselves from the younger crowds which usually run rampant with stupidity and/or attract bad attention?
cya around.

True, we unfortunately do attract a few young guys who like to do strange things to amuse themselves. We've taken to squashing that stuff when it happens to pop up. For the most part, I think that's pretty much over with.
The way we try to organize the lot is put the members on the corner, the overflow and visiting musclecars on the other side, and whoever else who drops by parks by the white block building. It's been to the point where we've had people parking in the next lot some nights; good weather brings out a lot of awesome cars. We had a couple of Mustangs come out one night with their chutes still on from the track. One in the low 9s, the other I hear is already in the 8s :o . There's a 2nd gen Pro Street Camaro Z28 that stops by here and there; some guys from Tampa with a couple of turbo sport compacts tried to challenge him to a money race after the HIN show. They were full of the "domestics suck, power to weight, etc" blather until they found out it's run "10 seconds or less" as their hero put it.
Then it was, "Oh, let's go from a 100 roll..." What kind of race starts at 100mph? That's pretty much like challenging a fish to a swim across the bay, then once your common sense kicks in and you realize that the fish will embarass you, moving the race to the nearest desert.
I hear you about the ricer element. When we were smaller, we used to go out to the Wal-Mart on John Young and Sand Lake. Was cool hanging there with a couple hundred cars, until the kids started doing burnouts with their one-wheel-peelmobiles and hitting their rev limiters all over the place. Along comes Johnny Law... I heard one night they laid out spike strips to surround them all and went in and ticketed every last one there. Sounds like that's going to happen to Bennigan's soon.
You ever go out to Gandy Bridge?

yes i have been to my fair share of tampa outings.
tonight, i was inside eating at bennigans with the gang and the law showed up and made the losers leave. they went inside to eat after. we came out and hung out and they came back outside and said dont worry hopefully those others wont be back for a while. then they left. they know that there are the few of us who have been meeting here for years and know we are a respectable crowd. some of the unwanteds started coming back, and word is spreading among us nissan guys of a new spot to the east that we will begin to hang out at to get away from the lost ones looking for places to screw around since their precious i drive sonics got shot down.
yeah i been to walmart a time or two that was really gay. good thing the cops didnt lay the spike strips down. i dont think ive ever been there longer than 5 minutes before 5-oh shows up.
i drove by your hangout tonight looked pretty packed. but u'd never know i drove by since my car looks and sounds stock most of the time and i dont romp on it at all anymore. (gas is still $$$)
