Default Good evening gentlemen.

Hey dudes. I'm Nick, I'm from Lakeland, and I drive a 5.7L Grand Cherokee and up until recently a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT Limited.
I currently have the engine out of the Subaru, cleaned and honed with some new parts ready, and I am really here looking for any resources outside of the OE shop service manual, as I have never built the EJ255 before.

I do know exactly how an engine functions though and what goes where.
I've pretty much stripped that car down to it's skivs and put it back together.
I have to admit though the EJ series scares me a little, especially the heads \ cams and timing.

So that's whats up with me right now, nice to meet you guys, if anyone can point me in a good direction or wants to help out,
I am eternally grateful! I'm still on the fence wondering if I should be going to a shop or doing this build in my garage.

Welcome aboard Nick.
I'm such a perfectionist, the engines I have built have taken too long. lol

I would be looking around for a factory competition manual.
Sometimes you can get them over the counter at the dealer.
Sometimes over the internet.

Ford, Chevy and others put them out because they want people racing their cars to do well.
When I autocrossed, Nissan/Datsun not only put out the factory competition manual, but competition parts could be bought through the dealer. I still have that book. They even told you the best "stock" parts to use.
The suspension stuff was the best at the time.

Check Peterson Publishing for competition books.
Go to the import drags and see what guys who actually race are doing with their engines.

You might check out machine shops and see what thoughts they have as to what the specs should be.
I would get everything balanced, as a way of making everything rev better and run smoother.

If you are looking for a shop, John Wilson and LHT in St Pete is a place that I would trust.
You might see who he recommends for the machine work.

A friend took his engine to United Speed World north of Fowler on Florida or Nebraska Ave.
They ported and matched gaskets (that I know about) and maybe other stuff).

In the search box top right I typed in "Subaru Legacy" and found a few references....
