That was the best weather for a car show, the All British Car Show in Safety Harbor was this past weekend. The Tampa Bay British Car Club had a great showing with a large number of members bringing cars and getting trophies. So many members were awarded trophies that I lost track of who won what. We’ll just have to wait until they post the winners. To all those club members that won trophies, Congratulations, Those were some of the best cars I have ever seen. I hope everyone is enjoying the cooler and dryer weather. Get that Classic British Car out for some exercise and have some fun. The LAST regular Monthly Meeting of the Tampa Bay British Car Club for this year is October 27th, 2016 at Ben’s Paradise Restaurant at 443 Main Street Safety Harbor. Meeting starts at 7 PM, Come early (about 6 PM) for dinner and conversations. Drive your British Car, if the weather cooperates. No meeting in November, Happy Thanksgiving. No meeting is December, Merry Christmas. RSVP’s are now being accepted for the Brits by The Bay Holiday Picnic on December 3rd At Phillippe Park in Safety Harbor Fl, from10:00 to 2:00 at Shelter #2. The Bus will be available during the picnic. Once again we are at that time of year when you will be asked to pay your dues. The TBBCC Dues are Still only $30.00 and include a subscription to the Classic Motorsport Magazine. Pay at or before the December picnic and receive 5 bonus tickets for the Club member raffle. Must be paid by January 20th to receive the Magazine subscription. Dues can be paid at the Club meeting, The Brits by the Bay picnic or any Club event. The mornings are cooler and more conducive to driving a classic British car. So, we are looking for some Good Breakfast places. Do you have a favorite Burger or Breakfast place in your neighborhood? WE are always looking for new and interesting locations to hold a Club get-together. If you are interested in having the Club join you at your favorite eating establishment, there are a few requirements; First is there adequate and secure parking, do they have adequate seating for 30 to 40 Club members and is the restaurant willing to host our event. If ALL answers are yes, then contact Mike Silvernail mikenail41@live.com; with the manager’s name and phone number, we’ll contact them to set a date. We are also looking into having a Micro Brewery Night, getting together at one of the local Micro Breweries in the area for a pint. This is still in the initial stages of planning, so keep an eye open for the future date and location. Hope to arrange a food truck to be in attendance. |

At our last Club meeting, September 28th it was decided that the Club would donate $500.00 to help Hurricane Maria victims in Puerto Rico. This was discussed at length and passed with a unanimous vote. I have asked Robert Infanzon to contact his family members on the island about how best to use the monies. In addition Bill Sirine ($27.00), Bob Lindstrom ($20.00), Mike & Karen Silvernail ($20.00), Phil & Fiona Ross ($25.00) and Robert Infanzion ($58.00) have made additional donations to the Club’s $500.00 and the total is now $650.00. If other Club members would like to make additional donations to these funds, please contact me at Roadster463@gmail.com I was informed that Federal Government and FEMA are finally getting the relief efforts underway with basic necessities being distributed and the infrastructure repairs have started. However many families on the island have lost everything, their home, car and only some have insurance to cover the losses. It has been suggested that we use the monies to help a few of these unfortunate families rebuild and replace what was lost. Robert’s Brother-in-law Hector has a nursery / plant business in one of the mountain regions of PR. All of his employees have suffered many losses, some losing everything. These employees are in desperate need of help to rebuild their homes and lives. Hector has agreed to distribute the funds where they will make the most impact for these families. This is a way to insure that our donations will go to those with the most need and absolutely no “administrative expenses”. We would welcome any feedback or thoughts on this proposal. The Club finally has a new bank account and we can now accept checks in the Tampa Bay British Car Club’s name. Glenn’s MG and British Car Repair’s Annual Lift Day has been rescheduled to Saturday, October 14 starting at 10:00 AM. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and the day will be dry and “Cooler”. If you want to have your car inspected please call to get on the list. And come hungry, Cory is cooking some great food. As was in the last Club email we are helping several individual families in Puerto Rico. The Club has donated monies and several individual Club Members have added to that amount. And over the last week several other Members has expressed an interest in joining in this donation. We are now planning to send the monies after the October Business Meeting on the 26[SUP]th[/SUP]. This will give everyone several opportunities to make a donation. I will be accepting cash or check (made out to Tampa Bay British Car Club) at Glenn’s Lift Day, The Burger Quest, at The All British Car Show and at the Club Meeting. The 2017 Club roster is almost finished and will be sent out to current Club members only and will be sent in a specific email. The roster will include Club Members names, phone number, email, city, zip code and cars. Street addresses will NOT be included. The roster is provided to enable members to communicate and assist each other with their cars. Depart from the parking lot of the Chattaway Restaurant on the corner of 22nd Avenue S. and 4th Street S. in St. Petersburg at 11:00 AM. The tour will take about 90 minutes, passing through downtown St. Pete and finishing in Gulfport. PARKING ON WEEKENDS CAN BE A CHALLENGE…O’MADDY’S DOES NOT HAVE DEDICATED PARKING. 11/02/2017 Tampa Bay British Car Club and Friends: The monies collected for Puerto Rico have been sent. I am very proud of the Club for stepping up to help those in need. The Club donated $500.00 and individuals from the Club matched that amount and we sent a total of $1,000. This will be a great help in rebuilding those families that were devastated by the hurricanes. A special thanks to all those Club members that donated. We have a couple of great Car Shows this weekend. Starting with Black Diamond Invitational Car Show in Lecanto, FL (details are below), and the St Pete Yacht Club Motor Classic. November 5[SUP]th[/SUP] is The St Petersburg Yacht Club Vintage Motor Classic on the waterfront in downtown St Petersburg. This has always been a great and fun show. On line registration is available until October 29 at www.spyc.org. Fiona, Ranger and I are planning to attend. Bring your Classic Car or just drop by and enjoy the cars. Hope to see you at the show. Recently I found an all important specialty tool that is needed in all Classic British Cars emergency tool kits. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has recently discontinued making this tool, but the Club has been able to appropriate the last 36 available. This versatile and multi use tool is: Union Jack - Duck Tape ™. The Club is now selling single rolls for the bargain price of $5.00 (proceeds are going to the Club). Robert Infanzon and I were able to attend the Carlisle Auction and swap meet at the Fun n Sun event complex at Lakeland Airpark. There were some very interesting cars on the auction block and a lot of interesting parts and items for sale. We made a day of the auction and had a great time. The TBBCC Breakfast Quest at Village Inn was another great success with 22 members in attendance. A big thank you to Mike and Karen Silvernail for hosting this get together and for organizing all the Burger & Breakfast Quests. You two are the best. |
