Tampa Bay British Car Club and Friends:

We are looking to help a small local charity. Our 50 / 50 drawing donations have been going to different organization every 6 month. And we are asking for your help to find a small local charity. In the past we have donated to Pet Pal, Horses for Handicapped and Second Chance Rescue. If you know of a good local charity please contact me at president@tampabaybritishcarclub.org

At this date the Club has 117 membership renewals and I expect several more in the mail this week. I have spoken with The Classic Motorsports Magazine and they have given me a few more days (They Must have the list by Monday to guarantee delivery of the next issue) and I can accept Dues Payments at this Sunday’s Burger Quest. This is the last chance to have the magazine included in your Club dues. Paymentsmadeafter this weekend will NOT include the Classic Motorsports Magazine as a part of your membership.

Have you made any Changes to you Address, Email or Phone Numbers? Please contact the Membership Secretary Alec Knight at membership@tampabaybritishcarclub.org .We need your correct contact information.

Attention Non Club Members:
A large number of Non-members are currently on the Club’s email list. This number has grown to an unmanageable number and it has become a challenge to send these emails. As of March 1[SUP]st[/SUP], ONLY Tampa Bay British Car Club Members will be receiving the emails. The non-members are welcome to join the Club. Pay your dues this Sunday’s Burger Quest at The Chattaway Restaurant, 358 22 Ave S, St Petersburg, and a subscription to the Classic Motorsports magazine will be included in your membership, Starts at 1:00 PM.

Do you have a favorite back road cruise to an interesting place or restaurant, have you though about hosting a drive? Many Club members would like to get out and join you. Contact Phil at president@tampabaybritishcarclub.org and I’ll give you help in getting it organized.

I'm sending this GOF update via my personal email to insure that you receive it.

Hello again MG enthusiasts,

> Overflow hotel --
Registered attendance for GOF-South is outstanding. The Hilton hotel sold out of the GOF rooms that were announced in my last update. But don't worry, our overflow hotel is right next door. A walk or very short drive with no traffic to all GOF events.

Extended Stay America Hotel Orlando
302 Northlake Blvd, Altamonte Springs, FL 32701
(407) 332-9300
Check rates on-line hotel sites and on the Extended Stay direct line.

Other hotels are nearby. Don't miss this GOF.

Embassy Suites
225 Shorecrest Dr.
Altamonte Springs, FL 32701
(407) 834-2400
Short drive, moderate traffic

Ramada Altamonte Springs
150 Douglas Ave
Altamonte Springs, FL 32714
(407) 862-8200
Short drive, heavy traffic

> Revised Thursday driving tour. 2:30PM --
We received an invitation to a private tour of over 60 concours quality collector cars, mostly European, in a totally unique setting. I couldn't pass up this opportunity. So we will drive to the collection instead of to British car shops on the Events Schedule on the GOF website. The drive will depart from the Hilton around 2:30PM Thursday afternoon

The "Evening With the Masters" at the Hilton follows the driving tour. Join in this two-hour open forum of MG Q&A and advice from world renowned MG experts.

> Register soon --
Next Monday, February 19, is the last day to order GOF Tee shirts and MG caps.

Friday, March 2 is the last day to submit your registration form to be able to pick up your printed credentials at GOF. If you register later, you will be in a long line to create your credentials and possibly miss some events. You must wear your GOF name badge to enter all events.

The GOF registration form is on the GOF-South website...
www [dot] gofsouth [dot] com

My personal thanks to all of you for the enthusiasm that you have shown toward GOF-South and also to the members of the Classic MG Club who have worked for over two years to make this GOF one to remember.

Hope to see you next month at the 52nd annual "Southern Gathering of the Faithful."

Tampa Bay British Car Club and Friends:

WOW, the Burger Quest at The Chattaway was one of the largest we have ever had, we counted 49 club members and a large number of classic British Cars in the parking lot. The food was good, the weather was warm and the company was great.

In the past we have changed charities after each Club picnic, I now propose that we stay with the next charity for a full year. I have received the names of a few small local charities. And at this month’s club meeting we will be voting on which charity to choose to receive the proceeds of the 50 / 50 drawings. Any members attending the meeting can propose another charity. The charities under consideration are:
Another Puerto Rico Hurricane project
Oldsmar Cares
St. Petersburg Free Clinic’s abused women program
Foundation for Sustainable Families
Charge Syndrome
And if anyone familiar with these charities please come to the meeting and tell us about it.

At this time the Club has 130 membership renewals and I sent the list to the Classic Motorsports Magazine. The May issue is at the printer and should arrive at you homes in mid March. Any renewals or new members after today’s date will NOT receive the magazine,

The non-members are welcome to rejoin the Club. I will be sending all non-members an email before the emails are stopped. The Tampa Bay British Car Club events will be listed on the Club’s web site, non-members are still welcome to join us at any event.

Do you have a favorite back road cruise to an interesting place or restaurant, have you though about hosting a drive? Many Club members would like to get out and join you. Contact Phil at president@tampabaybritishcarclub.organd I’ll give you help in getting it organized.

There are several local British Car Events and some local car shows in the next few weeks. Clean and polish your car and take it our to a show and remind everyone that Classic Cars Are More Than Hot Rods, Muscle Cars and Old Chevy’s.

Tampa Bay British Car Club and Friends:

Sunday February 18 was the Crusin’ at The Capital Classic Car Show, it was a large show with a couple hundred cars. Several Club members were in attendance and several thousand spectators. It is one of the nicest shows in the area.

To everyone who participated in Drive Your Triumph Day, in celebration of Sir John Black's birthday, February 10. The photos are on the Drive Your Triumph Day Website: https://driveyourtriumphday.shutterfly.com

Today is the TBBCC monthly meeting at the Paradise Restaurant in downtown Safety Harbor. Please join us for dinner, conversation and a good time.

Many Club Members have Classic Cars that are NOT British (We all can’t all be perfect) and it has been proposed that the Tampa Bay British Car Club members with those “other” Classic cars have a get together. Gather at a car show? Lets discuss it at the Club meeting.

In the past we have changed charities after each Club picnic, I now propose that we stay with the next charity for a full year. I have received the names of a few charities. And at this month’s club meeting we will be voting on which charity to choose to receive the proceeds of the 50 / 50 drawings. Any members attending the meeting can propose another charity. Oldsmar Cares

St. Petersburg Free Clinic’s abused women program

Charge Syndrome

I will be sending all non-members an email before the emails are stopped. The Tampa Bay British Car Club events will be listed on the Club’s web site; non-members are still welcome to join us at any event.

[h=2]What is a Sports Car[/h] Cars that drive on public roads, whose engineering requirements emphasize handling above passenger space and comfort,
are called sports cars. The term sports car has been defined as "an open, low-built, fast motor car".
The term describes a class of automobile with two seats, two doors, precise handling, brisk acceleration, and sharp braking;
trading practical considerations such as passenger space, comfort, and cargo capacity for driving enjoyment.
[h=1] Welcome to the Tampa Bay British Car Club![/h] We are an eclectic group of British car enthusiasts ranging from restorers to racers and everything in between. Our casual Southern hospitality shows from our event calendar of driving events, good eating, car shows, good barbeques and warm friendship. Please join our multi-marque family in Safety Harbor for our monthly meeting, or better yet monitor our events calendar and come on one of our driving tours. [h=2]Club 'Snapshot'[/h] Throughout the year we like to drive!! Car not on the road yet? Not to worry, we've got lots of restorers in the club to give advice to get your car up and running. Not sure what parts to use or are available for your car? Again, not a problem! We've got several vendors and shop owners who can get the latest part to soup up your ride. Whatever your need for your British car, we'll help you with a solution. That's the value of belonging, come for a visit and we think you'll stay. [h=3]Car shows -- We like em![/h]

[TD="align: left"] Either a pick-up "show and tell", or something more formal like the TBAHC "All Brit" in Safety Harbor, we like to show and share our cars. We not only show but we help with some of the events as well, including the St. Petersburg Yacht Club Show and the British Motor Trade Association meeting in January. If you're a "hands on" person, we're the club for you. [/TD]

From Robert Infanson

Our next adventure is the Presidents’ First Drive. The apostrophe placement being key. As of this past PFD held on 1-1-2018, Phil got together with Ted Badger, president of the FSMGCC (MG Car Club), and shared the responsibility on making sure the drive was safe and nobody got lost. I agree that the first drive of the year should be a joint adventure and therefore it should now be referred to as “The Presidents’ First Drive”. Ted and I just drove the route today and checked-out the restaurant we will be visiting for lunch. The drive has some very nice and relaxing views along the way. It is only approximately 1 hour drive and a straight shot along the coast from point A to point B. We hope everyone enjoys it!
The drive will start at the Madeira Beach McDonalds on 650 150th Ave. (Tom Stuart Causeway) Madeira Beach and end at “Rusty Bellies” on 937 Dodecanese Blvd., Tarpon Springs on Tuesday, January 1st. Driver’s meeting at 10:00AM at the Publix’s parking lot next to the McDonalds. Please reply to Robert at "tbbccpres@gmail.com", with the number of attendees so we can make the necessary arrangements for lunch.
Until then, I wish all a very happy Holiday Season.
Let the fun continue,
Robert

This is Robert Infanzon, the newly elected president of the Tampa Bay British Car Club.If your full name is Bob Vail, you are not included in the members list Phil handed me. I will be glad to add your information to it. Let me know if this is your full name.

This is the last email I sent the membership this afternoon:

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone has had the chance to spend time with loved ones and friends throughout this Holiday Season.

As promised, here are the details of the First President’s Drive for Tuesday, 1st of January 2019. The driver’s meeting will begin at 10:00AM at the parking lot of the Madeira Beach McDonalds located at 650 150th Ave, Madeira Beach, FL, next to Publix.

The drive will take us parallel to the beaches heading North towards Tarpon Springs.

Lunch will be at “Rusty Bellies Waterfront Grill” located at 937 Dodecanese Blvd., Tarpon Springs, FL 34689 727-934-4047 Web site: https://www.rustybellies.com/

We plan to arrive between 1 – 1 ½ hrs. after departing the McDonalds. So far we have 56 people RSVPd with 26 cars.

The restaurant is expecting the last head count by tomorrow, Saturday December 29th at noon. If you plan to join us for the drive, or show-up at the restaurant, and you have not done so already, you must RSVP to my club’s email in my signature below, before tomorrow at noon.

Hope to see you all there and wish everyone a Happy New Year in person!

Let the fun continue,

Robert T. Infanzon
