Ray Fox told the story that he needed one more driver for one of his cars at the 500 in Atlanta. Ray Fox found David Pearson working as a roofer in Atlanta, climbed onto the roof and asked David if he would drive for him. David Pearson agreed....and as a result David may have won the pole position....and may have also won the race......don't expect perfection with my memory.....lol Years later I heard David Pearson telling the story....almost word for word...and at the end David said: "I climbed down off that roof where I was working in the hot sun, I drove Ray Fox's car, I won....and thanks to Ray Fox, I never climbed onto a roof again".-David Pearson Attachment 65275 Attachment 65276 Attachment 65277 |
