Some truck did a hit-and-run on my FD, and if it turns out to be totalled one of the replacement cars I've been thinking about is a 240sx with a sr20det swap, so I can still move fast and turn corners, but not have a monthly payment. Is it a good idea, in general? And the only drifting I've done is breaking the rear wheels loose and yelling "wheeeee!" in u-turns. Is it de riguer to learn drifting if one drives a 240sx? Where do I sign up for the beginner's class? How much should I set aside each month for new drivetrain components and tires?

Its just the fact that you know about 240's and ka's and sr's and what people are doing with them thats why you see a lot of them on the road.
Now if you didnt know about 240's and you drove a ford escort every day you wont even notice the 240's but you will notice that there is a lot of ford escorts on the road. I know people that drive civics that dont even know what a 240 is but as soon as another civic passes by they point at it and say did you see that civic and I reply no but I did see that 240 that passed the other way.

shit they are cheap to buy anywhere. just have to look at teh condition of it before you buy it. as i see cheep 240s up here in ehh condition. then i see 240s that ppl pay 1k-2k for and have chassis rust all over. luckily my 400.00 pos was straight and no rust
