Firepunk Diesel World Record: Fastest Diesel Door Car On The Planet

By Artie Maupin September 17, 2018As we all know, the diesel drag racing scene has been and always will be around. It is evolving into way more than it used to be though considering the amount of dedication some of these teams have gone to go fast. For instance, disregarding the factory truck and going tube chassis or event an actual car to set a diesel powerplant into, like Ryan Milliken’s Chevrolet Nova.Milliken has held the record for the fastest diesel-powered door car on the planet for some time now. The fastest and record-setting pass was a 4.554 and a 3.04 half-track time. Now, if you know anything about drag racing, everything happens in the blink of an eye and to double up and run literally the same exact elapsed time is nearly impossible.

https://www.speednik.com/files/2018/...37-960x640.jpgAs if the Firepunk Diesel crew didn’t have enough on their plate, they’re working non-stop to keep this dominance up. Between Sportsman, 7.70, 6.70, 5.90, Pro Street And Pro Mod, they’ve got a truck in every class minus Top Dragster. Although who knows, maybe that is in the works too.
At the Hardway Performance SunShine Showdown, the sixth stop of the Outlaw Diesel Super Series, history was made once more. The Firepunk Diesel / Save The Racks Chevrolet S-10 driven by Larson Miller rolled into town looking to walk away with another SunCoast Diesel Pro Mod win. After struggling to get the truck to track straight, Firepunk and Co. found out there was a suspension component broken keeping them from an a to b pass.

Just before they found the issue, they went up for their first round of eliminations. The truck didn’t track straight, Larson white-knuckled the steering wheels and stayed in it to win it. You guessed it, he ran a 4.554 and a 3.04 half-track time tieing the record to the thousandths. Nobody likes to brag about a record they are tied for (that never happens) so, they push forward heading into the finals trying to get just a single thousandth of a second so they can happily head back to Ohio with their heads held high.
https://www.speednik.com/files/2018/...05-960x640.jpgWhat has been commonly been known as the “S-10” hasn’t always been a smooth ride. It’s been a long year trying new things and new parts to get the truck to where it is now and it is all starting to pay off. The S-10 relies on Hot Shot’s Secret racing oils to keep the engine and drivetrain in tip-top shape on race day.
In the final round, Larson Miller’s S-10, with a fixed suspension, planted the big rear tires and practically rode a rail all the way down to the finish line where he finished with a 4.47 at 167 miles per hour. Not only did they pass their previous record, but they also won the event as well. That 12-plus hour drive from Plain City, Ohio was all worth it after bringing home a check and a world record.
https://www.speednik.com/files/2018/...76-960x640.jpgAfter hearing from Lavon Miller, owner of Firepunk, it was clear he was ecstatic. “I am so proud of the entire Firepunk Diesel team right now,” said Miller. “This build has been a fight but we are finally going straight and breaking records. This 4.47 at 167mph in the 1/8th makes us the fastest diesel door car on the planet.
It is safe to say that all others in the Pro Mod class are hitting the drawing boards as we speak after this past weekend. Congratulations to the team at Firepunk Diesel for an incredible feat and we look forward to more competitors breaking records and battling it out at Rudy’s Diesel Fall Truck Jam in Julian, North Carolina. Hot Shot’s Secret, manufacturer of a full line of performance enhancing fuel and oil additives, is very pleased to be partnering with NHRDA racer and pro puller, Amalee Mueller, to “Save The Racks.” Mueller, the 2017 Pro Stock Champion in the NHRDA Sled Pulling Series is also an avid bow hunter and outdoorswoman. When her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer 8 years ago, she branded her Dodge Cummins powered pull and race trucks with Save The Racks to raise awareness and support her mother’s fight against breast cancer.

Beginning with the March 16th season opener of the NHRDA Hot Shot’s Secret Diesel Drag Racing Series in Chandler, AZ, Hot Shot’s Secret will support Save the Racks by donating $50 for every pass made during the drag racing series, and will provide a $250 bonus for a 2nd place finish or a $500 bonus if Amalee wins the class. Starting the season, Amalee won the 10.90 index class, racking up a donation total of $850 from Hot Shot’s Secret. In addition, Hot Shot’s Secret will also make donations following the same schedule for all passes ran by Amalee’s father, Edgar Artecona, to support this worthy cause. All funds collected throughout the season will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in October during the NHRDA World Finals, which coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness month. Save the Racks tee shirts will be sold at the races in the Hot Shot’s Secret booth with 50% of the purchase price to be added to the donation as well.

This year, Mueller is unveiling a new “Save the Racks” wrapped Pro Stock truck built by Lavon Miller and the Firepunk Diesel team, D&J Precision and fueled by Exergy Performance, that will be unveiled at the Oklahoma Diesel Nationals in Tulsa, OK on May18 and 19.Amalee Mueller says, “I’m very thankful that Hot Shot’s Secret captured my vision to bring awareness to breast cancer, and are supporting the cause by their generous donations. They dove into this wholeheartedly with me, and I am very excited for this upcoming season!”

Hot Shot’s Secret Director of Marketing, Kyle Fischer, says, “We have a great deal of respect for Amalee, her drive and dedication to excel in drag racing and sled pulling, and especially her efforts to support breast cancer awareness. Breast cancer affects many families and it is through efforts like Amalee’s that we will eventually be able to fund a cure. We encourage other companies that may want to get on board to support the cause by donating funds for each pass made by her and her Dad’s truck this year.”
