The inaugural season of the International Hot Rod Association Summit Sportsman National Championship is racing toward a fantastic finish.
Drivers and teams will head to Dragway 42 in West Salem, Ohio for the series' 14th and final stop. Under the SSNC format, championships are determined using points claims from the best seven of the competitor's first 10 races.
It is an important weekend for those chasing series titles and an opportunity for others to make their name in a national event. At the series' last race at Carolina Dragway, Nathan Van Beek highlighted the strong performances with a weekend sweep in Top Sportsman.
Heading into this weekend's final Top Sportsman races, Marlon Goates (pictured below) has a 564-531 advantage over fellow Texas driver Martin Blair with both drivers claimed out with 10 races. North Carolina racer Van Beek and Ohio racer Rob Harvischak could play spoiler as both are well within striking distance of the lead.

A familiar name, Troy Williams Jr., is at the top of the Top Dragster. However, with Williams claimed out, Chris Ferguson Jr. and Robert Vogler III could potentially overtake the Daytona Beach driver with a winning effort at Dragway 42.
Peter D'Angolo, with 650 points in just seven races, appears to be in the driver's seat in Super Stock, although Mark Nowicki could still have something to say about it with a win in his 10th race.
Myron Piatek has what appears to be a commanding 129-point lead in Stock, but Jimmy Hidalgo Jr. could overcome the deficit if he matches the effort he had at the series' last stop at Carolina.
Danny Waters Jr. has four victories this season in the Quick Rod class and the North Carolina driver heads into Dragway 42 in great shape. He has a 37-point lead over Corey Manuel, who has already competed in 10 races.
There has been a change atop the Super Rod leaderboard with Dave Marcus Jr. (pictured below) now holding a 14-point lead over Steve Furr. Vernon Rowland is just three points behind Furr as the championship enters its final stage.

Christopher Webb has the lead in Hot Rod, although Troy Williams Jr. still has a mathematical chance if he could dominate the first race at Dragway 42 like he did races 1 and 2 at the season opener in Immokalee.
In Junior Dragster, Paige Montgomery (pictured below) and Nicholas Ferraro each have 561 points entering the final weekend. Montgomery has the tiebreaker in her favor, and Ferraro has already claimed out with 10 races.

You can catch the action live or watch on ESPN3 Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at noon. For more, visit IHRA.com.
