Braille Lightweight Battery Install completed!Hey guys, I just finished installing my braille 21lb battery. I've got it mounted sideways in the trunk just above the factory mounting location. At some point down the line, I will be working on getting the factory fuse box there mounted in a different way, but for the time being it's still in there with the stock tray. I've got the full writeup and pictures at my site: https://worldsfastesthemi.com/2017/08/15/braille-lightweight-battery-install-complete/

Feel free to ask any questions. It's a great upgrade, and only a smidge more expensive than the factory replacement batteries, for less than half the weight!

Some drag racers remove a front mounted battery and place it in the trunk.
The effect is that whatever the weight you just moved is worth twice the weight.
Some drag racers place a super heavy battery in the trunk for better traction.

Since you took it off the front and also added it to the back.....
--------------------

When I first looked in my trunk and found the battery there STOCK,

I thought that was pretty cool.

Dodge is the first mfg'er to encourage a person to race their car...
All the stuff in "the box" , tuning specs right down to the shock settings and air pressure,
Red key fob and black key fob.
--------

I'm a road course guy, and I see nothing wrong with a lightweight battery.
In the trunk is fine with me. If I want to save more weight, I have a long list..... lol

and I'm not talking.....

You can gain 1/10 (one tenth) of a second for every 100 lbs you can reduce in a performance sports car. It is pretty linear for cars that weigh less than about 3900 lbs. After around 4000 lbs it is not linear at all. To gain the extra 1/10 of a second you have to shed more than 100 lbs.

Rob-2 is correct, it is around a 4250 lbs car stock as an RT and even more as a 392. Like said, the Charger is also not a 50/50 distribution, so where you take off the weight has a big impact on performance. (Depending on straight line or road course racing)

There are more advantages reducing the un-sprung weight (forged wheels, lighter brakes/tires) than taking out the back seat ect... A 37 to 50 lb reduction in the un-sprung weight would likely give you a noticeable difference on the track. (Not if you are running 22 inch rims!!)
