My 2014 Charger R/T had a nice Borla system on when I got it. A few months ago, I caved to pressure from my mechanic and did a resonator delete. It sounds mean as hell, and I love it...95% of the time. The drone on the highway is a bit much when it switches to 4 cylinders, and I end up often switching to 5th gear to get it to quiet down, which is less than ideal gas wise..

.I have been thinking of possible solutions to keep the exhaust sound the way it is now without the resonator while also being able to switch to something quieter at certain times. I know this may sound unorthodox, but would adding a second muffler with a butterfly valve where the resos used to be work? Looking specifically at the Varex mufflers.

https://www.xforceusa.com/products/varex-mufflers

The Varex mufflers would be open almost all the time (which is essentially a straight pipe), except on long stretches of highway driving or coming home late at night, during which I don't care how the exhaust sounds. I also don't want to replace my current mufflers with them, because the Borlas sound great and having just the Varex's instead with open

valves and no resos would be way too loud. All the reviews I've read is that when the Varex mufflers are closed, the exhaust is extremely quiet and eliminates drone, so I am confident it would do what I intend. I guess the only potential issues (and I'm not an expert, still learning a lot) are possible performance loss and/or engine damage?

I could live with the former, but definitely not the latter. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I want a more aggressive sound from my car than the stock. I don’t want to replace the whole exhaust system and am looking to install a muffler. I don’t want a super loud sound but rather it to be noticed in idle and when i accelerate. I was thinking a flowmaster 70 or 50?

Beyond that, I will say that if you are only going to replace the mufflers, it is less important which brand you go with as it is the type of muffler you use. You will get a deeper sound from the exhaust by replacing the 2 single in/single out mufflers with just 1 muffler that is dual in/dual out. You may lose a couple HP at redline, but it's literally only a couple and completely worth it to improve upon the ghastly sound of the stock 3.6L exhaust, IMHO.

Hey guys any suggestions on best flow master for my charger 3.6
I can't speak to which of the Flowmaster mufflers would sound best on the 3.6L, but I can say that Jones Full Boar has a dual-in/dual-out muffler that makes the 3.6L exhaust sound much better than the factory mufflers/resonators. Here's a couple of clips of what my 2011 Challenger with the 3.6L sounded like with that JFB on it:

IIRC, it cost me about $50 or so for the muffler, so the price can't be beat either.
