Default LC7i install and factory harness

LC7i install and factory harnessI am about to install a LC7i on my 2017 dodge charger with beats audio and i removed the dash and found the factory amp. I need help in figuring out what part of the harness to splice into. I felt under and found where the wires go into the amp but don't know where they come out. I did see a harness directly in front of me when i opened it that had a connector piece that looked like all the speaker wires and i think that is it but want to make sure. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Download this from Scosche PDF:
https://1drv.ms/b/s!AoG-8rk50HoeiYR3hVf0w0mCd7zp0w

That provides you with the audio wires' colors and such, and it is laid out in an understandable format: (most are not). You will want to match one of those wiring harness plugs on the factory amp to that guide's lay-out. It needs to be the output one coming out of the amp and going to the speakers, but I can't say which that one is, so you should look at both to verify you're splicing into the wires in the correct location.

NOTE: there is one wire mislabeled in that sheet. It lists an incorrect color combo for that particular wire, and I found that it was wrong for that one. I don't remember which one, but if you splice all the ones that do match, it should be easy to tell which one that's left goes with the remaining wire into the LOC.

Also, were you aware that you will need to wire in resistors between the amp and the LOC to get the factory head-unit/amp to allow the LOC to receive its speaker signals? If you do not do that, the car will think the speaker wires running into the LOC are shorted out due to their ultra-high resistances (> 10K ohm), and it will cut off those channels from receiving any signals from the head-unit as a result.

It's not terribly hard to wire in some inline resistors for each channel going into the LOC, but it can be tedious depending on whether the LOC is already mounted and if it's in an accessible location, etc.

I've got a couple posts about it in one of my threads here on CF:
- https://www.chargerforums.com/forums...5&postcount=24

There some other threads where I have discussed this issue with other members, but I am not seeing them right now...my search-fu is weak at the moment....

There are different configurations you can use from what I understand (high wattage/low ohm or low wattage/high ohm), but I opted to go with something I could find locally, at a Frys as it would turn out. I bought some 4 ohm / 25 watt resistors there for just a few bucks a piece, and they worked great. They were a little tedious to get wired up correctly, but that's mostly because of my setup and how I have everything clustered together on a rack in my trunk.

This post has an attached pic of the units I purchased (the one on the left in the red package): https://www.chargerforums.com/forums...5&postcount=13

This post has a pic (4th one down in the list of attachments) of how I mounted them (i screwed to the underside of the mounting board on which all the amps and LOC were mounted on top): https://www.chargerforums.com/forums...5&postcount=24

The wiring for my resistors is a little ugly, and I keep meaning to go back and clean it up, but I just haven't done it yet....

and did you wire the resistor across the (+/-) or and resistor on each wire (+/-)?

Each channel that the factory amp sends signals to needs a resistor on its channel. So the +/- of a speaker channel will get a resistor between the wires for that channel; and that is done for each channel coming out of amp.

For example my base audio setup has 6 speakers in it, but i only needed 4 resistors since there are 2 speakers on each of the 2 front channels (left vs right). 4 speakers up front, but only 2 channels power them, so i only need 2 resistors.

And then 2 more resistors for the 2 channels powering the 2 speakers in my rear channels.

Clear as mud?
