Default Recently purchased a 95 Neon

I recently purchaced a neon. Some1 came to the shop and wanted to get rid of it. Problem I have is that. Piston #1 is not working. There is no knocking on the motor in idle, or when reving it up. head gasket is good. No mixture in the liquids. Going down the road motor works fine. Low idle it shakes bad. Going in reverse it has a hard time because of the idle. Im guessing Fuel Injector is bad. Spark plug has spark. Wires are good. Coil Pack is looks good Has spark comming from all 4 ignitors. It's a 2.0l SOHC. any suggestions would be helpful. thnx

alright,if you think its that cylinder then start the car, while its running pull the plug off the injector for that cylinder and if the car stays idiling the same then it is that cylinder.if it does change its idle then you have to figure if its spark or fuel.if you checked the spark then check the wiring to the injector, the plug itself.unplug the injector, hook a test light up to the plug when the cars idiling.if its coming on when that cylinders supossed to be fireing then the wireing is good.you have to hook it up to the power wire, usally green with black stripe.check the injector itself by hooking a power wire and a ground wire up to the tabs were the plug would go.just run 2 little wires from the battery.just tap them on the injector.if its clicking or popping then its fireing.it also cleans the injector.also check all the engine grounds.if the motors shaking real bad then mabye some mounts would help.good luck.

what do you mean the piston is not working? have you tested the injector? it seems to me like your making an assumption that its fuel...it could just be :::gasp::: low idle...a bad ISC perhaps, are you throwing any codes? your PCM should give you an injector misfire code if one of the injectors is bad...but do this, go get a mechanics stethoscope and listen for clicking that indicates opening and closing of the injector...and by the way...the reason that no one had responded yet is most likely because no one was home to do so

No When I checked all the pistons by removing the wires to see if the idle drops.. 2-3-4 The idle drops more. but on #1 The idle stays the same. All plugs give spark. I even switched the wires on 1 and 4 to see if it would be a wire that caused 1 to not work properly but the wires are working properly. Crusing past 25mph The car runs perfect except for when its in park or you come to a complete stop the motor starts to shake. I was giving an educated guess stating if it is the injector not giving enough flow or maybe some1 changed the injectors and their might be air in the lines????? That is why im asking for help. Also there is no check engine light on or nothing so When I take it to any place to check the car for example Autozone they say they can only check the motor with the Check engine light to see if it throws any codes.

hiwayhuntr thx for the tip i will try that maybe tomorrow thx.

You could also swap injectors to see if it follows the injector.
As Josiah said earlier too..it could be the Idle Air Control motor/Valve.

theres no air in the lines.you could check the idle sensor and check that injector with a positive and a ground wire to see if its fireing.it might just be froze up from sitting.common proplem.if you have the haynes book for it it'll tell you exactly how to check the idle sensor with a ohm meter.

I hooked it up to the computer. It said it has an electrical problem on Injectors 1 and 2. I talked to a few other mechs about this and they said that it is the injector plugs. Other then that the motor is fine. Just have to find out why the injector plugs are messing up. Is this a common problem with neons, having electrical problems ???

Maybe I should part it out. Motor is good, a/compressor, tranny, interior, dash, and so on. I dont know.
