vw's did havr auto clutches it was very strage i believe they came in beetles its the only stick shift car i drove with no clutch you jusy change when the rmps are right it was very rare for them to have those.

Actually it had a vacuum canister near the tranny and in the rear by the motor. Pressure on top of the shifter activated the vacuum and allowed you to shift. Yes it is an autostick (called "autostick" by Volkswagen). Just FYI for all those non-believers.
