autozone will check your codes for free if you tell them you have a cell on

I thought you could do a push in the gas pedal X amount of times and it will flash you a code on the dash. then look that up on the Net.. thus giving you the diag.
It works that way on the E30s. and E34s.
Google it..

Or if that is what you have already done thus the coolant temp, then try shorting the wires and seeing it the warning goes out. of so its the switch and check a U pull. Or I am sure any local shop can order one.

the pedal doesnt work as the previous owner cut some wire down there, so i have to try to fix that before i can try it as code reading. and reeves says u have to buy complete engine harness and all parts stores around say dealer only....will have to find a u pull it that actually has a e36 as none seem to have one.

if the wires are only cut you should be able to patch them back together, it should be color coded down there. unless he hacked everything up and pulled wires out

so found the wire that was cut but it wasn't part of the loom so not sure if previous owner tried to fix it, but i brought it to the original autohaus and they found out its a o2 sensor and a knock sensor they said.
