seems like a compression problem

2013 Fatboy Lo having what seems like a compression problem. Upon startup, it sounds as if one of the cylinders is not firing and I am not getting a full cycle upon start. After this happens and the bike is running, as soon as I come to a stop or decelerate, the bike idles low then cuts off. My first thought would be spark plugs (and as soon as I have free time, I will check them). If the plugs check out, are there any other ideas that I can contemplate in the mean time?

my son in laws 2002 soft tail has almost always been a little hard to start! but now it is also cutting out!
I helped him check the spark yesterday (40 years ago I used to be a pretty good mechanic)
anyway while turning the engine over with the plugs hooked up to the wires! but out of the cylindes! sometimes it could take up to 6 seconds before they would start firing, same with trying new plugs, and just the wires!
I am pretty sure the coil is alright, because when just checking the wires1 It will throw a blue flame a good
inch away to ground.
to 6 seconds before they would start to spark

Hi, John. Need to verify if your issue is electrical or fuel related. Best to check for spark with a spark tester. They are really cheap to purchase. If you do not have a spark tester, use a jumper lead to definitively ground the spark plug. Do not rely on the plug, just laying on the head, for ground. You can also test your coil: https://www.fixmyhog.com/video/harle...l-test-008707/. See if you can pull up a stored diagnostic trouble code.

2016 breakout with same issue.I was running on low gas, refueled and started to idle very low rpm when stopping at light, then I got to my jobsite and let the bike site there for 3 hours or so, started back and problem was gone.

I have a 2002 road king fuel is dumping into back cylinder plugs are good plug wires are good for the injector be bad or the ECM
The Road King was running perfect before this happened
