Break in procedure will last about 600 miles.

Get on a major interstate and wheelie for 200 miles. Refill. Repeat. Refill. Repeat.

Or do whatever the manual says to do

There are actually many arguments over how to properly break in your motorcycle. Many people say to wear the piss out of your engine, in order to break in all piston rings and other seals. Some say to not go over a certain RPM so you make sure nothing breaks (you have a warranty). I say, just ride the bike. Either way the bike is going to be fast. Go to gixxer.com and read posts like this. Then formulate your own opinions

I think your owners manual will tell you the proper procedure they recommend. I would go 600-800 miles under 5-6k.

Also if you are picking up the bike for the first time be very careful, cause brand new tires wont grab like you think they will, especially in this weather. Just get a couple of easy miles in before you get out on the busy ass road. Good luck
