Default synthetic vs non-synthetic

Well I was planning to change the oil in my 636 when I stopped and wondered. I thought the guy I got it from said it had synthetic in it, but I cant remember. Is there a way to tell if there is or not?

It doesn't matter what's in it now, you can replace it with either. Synthetics are superior but some people on here will argue that point.

nope. Nearly all synthetics are part conventional and many conventionals contain some synthetic.... they seem to play well together.
